A LIST OF BARACK OBAMA’S ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT

There is a list going around the Internet outlining an extensive list of things the President has accomplished since coming into office.  The author seems to be addressing Obama supporters who are disappointed in the President’s performance.  It’s an impressive list, well documented and straight forward in it’s presentation.  I thought I would check it out.

Here is an example from the middle of the list.

He signed an order banning anyone from working in an agency they had lobbied in previous years. He also put strict limits on lobbyists’ access to the White House.   http://nyti.ms/gOrznV

He did sign the ban, but continued to hire former lobbyists to serve the White House. Mega lobbyists Steve Ricchetti, Broderick Johnson, James Heimbach just to mention three.

Not to cherry pick, I started from the top.  Here are the first seven.  They are enough to tell the storey.  Here’s a link to the full list.

Legislative Prowess
Despite the characterizations of some, Obama’s success rate in winning congressional votes on issues was an unprecedented 96.7% for his first year in office.  Though he is often cited as superior to Obama, President Lyndon Johnson’s success rate in 1965 was only 93%.   http://n.pr/i3d7cY

REBUTTAL. True. With Democratic control of the House and the Senate, Pelosi, Reid and Obama had a radical’s field day.

Fiscal Responsibility
Within days after taking office, he signed an Executive Order ordering an audit of government contracts, and combating waste and abuse.   http://1.usa.gov/dUvbu5

REBUTTAL. True. The Order added the requirement for contractors to disclose their political party affiliations when applying for government contracts making it easier to reward those who had done political favors for the President and his party.

Created the post of Chief Performance Officer, whose job it is to make operations more efficient to save the federal government money.   http://n.pr/hcgBn1

REBUTTAL. True. But his appointee to initiate the never served due to her personal income tax problems.

On his first full day, he froze White House salaries.  http://on.msnbc.com/ewJUIx

REBUTTAL. Not really. On his first full day it was a proposal and not a freeze.  And it didn’t stop federal employees from getting increases in their income.  It only stopped raises within grade. Increases could still be given as bonuses or the raising of pay grades without the need for promotions.  The proposal was more fanfare than substance.

He appointed the first Federal Chief Information Officer to oversee federal IT spending. http://www.cio.gov

REBUTTAL. True. Each government agency already had a Chief Investment Officer. The creation of this new layer of oversight provided the means to control all of the agency career CIOs by one czar appointed by and beholden to the President.  It also added and an unnecessary expense

He committed to phasing out unnecessary and outdated weapons systems, and also signed the Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act to stop waste, fraud and abuse in the defense procurement and contracting system.  http://bit.
ly/hOw1t1     http://bit.ly/fz8GAd

REBUTTAL. Defense Secretary Gates called this a controversial move.  I am not qualified to judge the advisability of it. However one thing is clear; it dismissed one third of private contractors, replacing them with civilian government workers.

Through an executive order, he created the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform.  http://bit.ly/hwKhKa

REBUTTAL. This is better known as the Erskine-Bowles commission.  The Commission made many recommendations for the President and the Senate to include in the Federal Budget.  None were adopted.  Harry Reid’s Democratically controlled Senate hasn’t presented a budget in 3 years, contrary to law.

OBAMA’S BIGGEST LIE YET

Obama is making the claim that he is the one who is the fiscally responsible president.  He says it’s the Republicans who are the wild spenders and creating huge deficits that he is cleaning the mess up.  He must be operating on the theory that if the people aren’t believing the lies you have been telling it must be because the lies weren’t big enough.

Watch the video; listen to the reaction of the crowd.  The immediate thought is they are a bunch of useful idiots.  But they are not as much idiots as they are true believers.  Faith is immune to facts.  Here are some of the facts.

Obama’s budget proposals to Congress have been so irresponsible that not a single member of the House or the Senate voted for them. And then there is the deficit record.  The numbers at the left are millions (2012 is estimated).

The deficit figure for Obama’s first year (2009) would have been even higher had it not been for the fact that the TARP loans made in 2008 were paid back, reducing the deficit in 2009.

CANDIDATE OBAMA IS GETTING HIS CHICKEN FRIED IN KENTUCKY

Barack Obama has captured 57.9% of the votes cast in the Kentucky Democratic primary. That may not seem so bad until you consider he is running against nobody and nobody won 42.1% of the votes. Of course the ballot doesn’t say “nobody”, that would be silly. It says “Uncommitted”. It is understood that uncommitted is nobody. Any fool knows that. The Party’s primary voters know that.

The man is having trouble in Arkansas as well. It looks like he has won it 42% TO 51%. At least in Arkansas Obama ran against somebody. Arkansas, Kentucky, Obama and Hillary, the four have a mutual history. During the 2008 Democratic primary campaign Clinton was doing better than Barack was in Kentucky. Obama said it’s because Hillary’s home state of Arkansas borders on Kentucky (which it does not) whereas my home state of Michigan does not” (which it does). Karma anybody?

Obama has lost support of the Catholic Church, much of the Jewish community, those white blue-collar workers not working for the government, and many of the unemployed youth. And now he is losing his own party’s elected officeholders. Not one single Democrat in the House or the Senate voted in favor of Obama’s budget. The prominent black mayor of Newark, New Jersey has been blunt in his criticism of the President’s attack on capitalism in his Bain Capital push on Romney.

Who does he have left? He still has the solid support of voters from the black community who vote brotherhood loyalty above all else, ACORN, welfare recipients, Bill Ayers, Rev Jeremiah Wright and a majority of the illegal aliens and dead people who vote. Such a motley group would not be enough but Obama also still has academia, the MSM, Hollywood and all of those people who always vote Democratic because Republicans are so mean and greedy.

You can judge a politician by the constituency he serves. My vote will be cast for a candidate who supports live citizens striving to be self sufficient. My vote will be cast for the candidate who serves the common man with common sense. My vote will be cast for the candidate who is proud to stand and say “I am an American”. As you can see, I cannfor Barack Obama.

RULES for RADICALS by SAUL ALINSKY – THE GENESIS OF TACTIC PROXY

Continuing with the chapter by chapter series on Rules for Radicals, today we add Comments about the chapter called The Genesis of Tactic Proxy.

Synopsis of the chapter entitled The Genesis of Tactic Proxy
“America’s corporations are a spiritual slum, and their arrogance is the major threat to our future as a free society.”

The title of this chapter is derived from the idea of using corporate shareholder proxies to achieve your own goals.  Corporate stockholders have certain rights as to how the corporation conducts its affairs.  These rights are exercised by voting and the voting document is called a proxy. The tactic involves persuading colleges, foundations and churches to vote their proxies in solidarity according to the organizer’s plan of attack.

Alinsky stumbled upon this idea when talking to three business administration college students who were opposed to the Vietnam war, but “recoiled from such actions as carrying the Viet Cong flag or burning their draft cards.  However, they did believe in using proxies.”

The genesis of the proxy tactic is an example of why an organizer should hang loose. When a door opens unexpectedly, go through it. Be not concerned that it takes you off the path you had planned. Do not fall into the trap set by “our alleged educational system” that teaches “order, logic, rational thought, direction and purpose”. These ideas are invalid because they are too rigid. The organizer must be ready to go where the flow leads him.

Commentary
The author’s statement at the top of this awkwardly named chapter only needs minor editing to be correct.  ”America’s corporations Democratic leaders are a spiritual slum, and their Obama’s arrogance is the major threat to our future as a free society.”

Saul Alinsky must have been quite proud of himself when he stumbled on this idea.  Here he was, using capitalist corporate procedures to promote a Marxist cause.  He didn’t realize it was never destined to work.  Not many corporate shareholders are going to join in solidarity with any radical causes, let alone socialist ones.

SCHUMER ATTACKS FACEBOOK CO-FOUNDER. WANTS A BIGGER PIECE OF SAVERIN’S MONEY TO GO TO THE GOVERNMENT

Eduardo Saverin was born in Brazil and lives in Singapore which is his legal residence.  He applied for American citizenship and attended college in the United States where he met Mark Zuckerberg, and by some accounts was the prime techy in the structure of Facebook.

Saverin stands to get a big pot of money when Facebook finally becomes a public company and he will pay U.S. taxes on his gain when he sells the stock.  But all the tax that is legally due, and that’s about 600 million dollars, is not enough to satisfy the Democrats led by Chuck Schumer.  They plan to introduce a bill to double that.

It doesn’t end there. The Democrats also want to bar the man from  re-entering the U.S.  Way to go Democrats, an enterprising young man manages to create an additional 600 million dollars for the U.S. treasury and you want to pass a law preventing him or anyone else from coming back and doing it something like that again.  You are driving America from the land of opportunity to becoming the land to avoid for anyone with enterprising ingenuity. Yuk!

ROMNEY AND THE KKK CONNECTION

WALLACE AT THE DOOR

GEORGE WALLACE STANDING AT THE DOOR

CNN host Don Lemon wants to plant the idea in your mind that Mitt Romney’s belief that marriage is a union between a man and a woman is somehow equivalent to George Wallace’s stance that blacks should remain segregated forever.  Demonizing doesn’t get much more despicable than that.  Fortunately, it’s equally stupid.  When a black gay television host takes a religious belief held by 67% of the American people and calls it racist, the backlash will be far greater than any impact CNN or its host had hoped to make.

Few people today even know who George Wallace was.  No, he was not a news reporter.  He was elected Governor of Alabama in 1962 in a landslide on the promise to his constituents that he would fight to maintain segregation of blacks in America forever.  And he meant it.  He is also famous for standing in the doorway to an auditorium at the University of Alabama in a showdown with the federal government.  He stood in the doorway in order to block the entrance of two students because they were black.  George Wallace was, of course, a Democrat.

Now click this link and watch the CNN video.  It is very brief.

This is the type of journalism we are up against today.  One thing we have going for us is that the Left has not learned yet that they no longer have the only voice.  For years there was never a need to defend whatever they said.  As a result they set themselves up for easy ridicule and exposure of the nonsense and demagoguery they preach.

There is no KKK connection and the people know it.

HIGH PRICED BULBS FROM HOLLAND AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME NO TULIPS

Who would announce a 10 million dollar prize for the development of an affordable American made 60 watt light bulb and then award the money to a foreign company that prices the affordable bulb at 50 dollars and doesn’t manufacture it in the United States?  There are only two possibilities, a fool or the U.S. government.

`          THE WINNER !

HERE THEY ARE, COME AND GET ‘EM, 50 BUCKS APIECE

The bulbs do last longer; the claim is 10 years in 8 hour daily use.  They wear out gradually and diminish in brightness as they age so you may want to replace them sooner.  The bulbs generate light in the spectrum referred to as warm which means not as white as an incandescent bulb.  That may be fine if you want to use 6o watters for soft romantic room lighting, but they can be a bit of a strain for reading.

Philips says it is not manufactured in the U.S. but it’s assembled in Wisconsin and some of the parts are made in California.  How an item like a simple light bulb can be manufactured in one country without being assembled there is not explained.  Perhaps it has to do with the bulb costing 50 dollars.

What’s next, a 5 thousand dollar affordable 20 inch lawnmower that doesn’t require gasoline, made in China but the wheels are put on in Idaho?  That’s my comment for today; stay well and don’t forget to flush twice.

HOW ABOUT $179,750 PER HOUR

No, that’s not a job offer.  It’s the cost of operating the airplane known as Air Force One according to the Pentagon.

Like the White House, it belongs to you and me.  We gladly pay the expenses and give the sitting President to privilege of using them.  When we elect another president we expect the departing President to leave them behind.  Air Force One is not Barack Obama’s private jet.  Would someone please tell CBS.

IT'S NOT HIS, IT'S OURS

The President used our plane to go coast to coast across the country to raise some money for himself.  Reporting on the trip to George Clooney’s house (that’s where the money was) CBS said “The star of the evening, the president, arrived at LAX in his private jet, Air Force One.”  Now CBS, you know the man you call president with a small p doesn’t believe in private jets.  What’s LAX is your reporting , I believe.

I GOT BIN LADEN – a pathetic plea for votes

It was the military that got bin Laden, not the President.  All the President had to do was approve the operation.  Does anyone really believe any American president would have withheld such an approval?  Launching a campaign to promote the notion that Osama bin Laden would still be free today had Romney been President is pathetic.  It’s also insulting.

Nonetheless, let’s give the President the credit he is due.  The killing of bin Laden happened on his watch and he made the right decision to authorize kill or capture knowing full well that kill would be the all but inevitable result.  Let us also remember the assignment originated with President Bush and the Navy Seals were the heroes who carried it out.  The military would have been allowed to do their job under any president, even if it had been Joe Biden.

It’s no longer “Yes, We Can” because they didn’t.  “Hope and Change” won’t work either because now the voters know what kind of change it is that Obama hopes for.  So it seems the slogan this time is “I Got Bin Laden”.  Barry, let me tellya. It ain’t gonna work.  Can’t you come up with something better?  How about touting some other accomplishment of yours like lowering the tensions of racism?… bringing down unemployment?… lowering the deficit?… or perhaps there is something you did to lower the cost of energy, or reduce violent crime, or relieve the immigration problem?  I guess not.  There must be something you accomplished that you can tout other than “I Got Bin Laden”?  You did give us Obamacare.  How about using a toast as a slogan?  Perhaps “To Health With the American People”.

RULES for RADICALS by SAUL ALINSKY – THE EDUCATION OF AN ORGANIZER

Continuing with the chapter by chapter series on Rules for Radicals, today we add our Comments about the chapter called The Education of an Organizer.

Synopsis of the chapter entitled The Education of an Organizer
“The building of many mass power organizations to merge into a national popular power source cannot come without may organizers”.  Training organizers is a daunting task.  Candidates come from every corner, from students to priests to union leaders and minority groups.  Many trainees start but few go on to great accomplishment.  The failure rate is high.”

“Certain qualities mark a candidate as more likely for success.  A good candidate is curious; of every issue, he asks why?  A good candidate is irreverent.  “He is challenging, insulting, agitating. discrediting.  He stirs unrest”.  He has imagination, a good sense of humor and “a bit blurred vision of a better world”.

Alinsky explains that the best organizer is “a well integrated political schizoid.  The organizer must become schizoid, politically, in order not to slip into becoming a true believer.  Before men can act an issue must be polarized.  Men will act when they are convinced that their cause is 100 percent on the side of the angels and that the opposition are 100 percent on the side of the devil.  He knows that there can be no action until the issues are polarized to this degree”.

Commentary (Revised)
When Alinsky wrote “The building of many mass power organizations to merge into a national popular power source” there can be little doubt that ACORN was in the professor’s mind.   However he never addressed the need for a grand leader, a Commander in Chief to preside over the Lieutenants and Generals who were the focus of his teachings.  Barack Obama will be ideally positioned to fill that role after his term in office.  Don’t be surprised if that’s the route he takes.  Martin Luther King is dead, Jessie Jackson has run his course and Al Sharpton is… Al Sharpton.  The door is open.

Good middle managers are the key to success in any business.  That’s just as true for building a political power base as it is for building a chain of shoe stores.  It is particularly difficult however, to find good candidates within a political movement that is populated by members more interested in achievement by taking that in achievement by producing.

Union leaders are unreliable because they can get better pay for leading unions.  Among priests, only the disgruntled are likely to apply.  And students grow up.  So it’s no mystery why the failure rate is high.

The author says the best candidate is a “schizoid” with “blurred vision”.  Level headed clear thinkers need not apply.

Why “schizoid’ and why is a “blurred vision” helpful?  Ethics Rule 11 says in part, the organizer’s mission must be phrased in terms like “Equality, Fraternity or the Common Welfare”.  Thus we see the goal of taking property from those who earned it and redistributing it to those who have no right to it expressed as Equal Justice.  We see the goal of expanding central power over another 16% of the economy and increasing the Party’s constituency of dedicated voters phrased as providing healthcare to 30 million hard working Americans presumed to be denied any medical treatment otherwise.

The organizer must preach these causes with a deep fervor that only a true believer can muster.  But he must not become a true believer because the causes are not the goal, they are just vehicles.   Power is the goal.

When Alinsky says blurred vision, I take him to mean vague vision.  When the 2012 Republican primary campaigns were in full swing each contender and his or her followers were comprised of true believers with their own clear vision and the result hurt the Party’s chances to win the general election. It’s an age old dilemma; do you stand unwavering on your principles, possibly in vain, or do you yield to compromise for the greater probability of gaining half of what you seek?  Alinsky taught continual new demand followed by compromise, gaining a little each time until you reach the final goal.

As an aside, you may have noticed the synopsis of this chapter is almost entirely in quotes, which means the text is reproduced exactly as it was written in the book.  You may have noticed the grammatical errors many of which occur throughout the book.  We noticed them but for the sake of simplicity didn’t point them out with the customary sic notation.
