FOR NEW ORLEANS

Shout it out today – “New Orleans !” – and the echo comes back – “Filthy oil !” , or earlier, – “Katrina !”. But it was not always so.

Riverboats with their paddle wheels beckoned you to ride up the Great Mississippi. perhaps to Natchez, home of Jerome Kern’s Showboat, the first musical of its kind. New Orleans was Bourbon Street, Mardi Gras, Huey Long and best of all, Louis Armstrong. In fact, it still is (except for Huey Long).

New Orleans, we thank you for what you have given us (except for Huey Long) and we wish you speedy recovery. This video is for you.
