Definitions – quick and easy

Someone  complained. They said they had to go look up anthropogenic. I said, what a shame. You did not need to go anywhere. Hold ALT and click on the word. If you don’t get an instant definition, you need to download Alt-Click. It’s so easy any fool can do it. I did it.

Click here. Then with your mouse put the pointy thing over the big blue thing that says CLICK HERE  and click there. You will love it. It will make you smarter. It is the greatest invention since sliced bread.

More good news
The other day Bill Clinton ridiculed Al Gore, the man who would be president if only he had carried his home state. The former president reminded his audience we are coming into the season called Spring “known to Al Gore as proof of Global Warming.” The longer Slick Willie is out of office the better I like him.

Just when most of us are getting to know what anthropogenic means, the scam of anthropogenic global warming appears to be passing into the dustpan of history. When in 2007 the press turned from Hillary to Barack you knew Obama was going to be the candidate. When the likes of Bill Clinton ridicules the almost former president Albert Gore and his game, you know Big Al and his game are past their peak.

OBAMACARE AND THE SUPREME COURT

As of March 29th thirteen states have joined in a legal challenge to the law known as Obamacare. According to the New York Times their case rests on two arguments, (A) the Constitution does not permit the Federal government to mandate the purchase of goods or services from the private sector, and (B) the provisions of Obamacare overstep states rights as provided in the Constitution. The Times predicts failure because “the law was carefully drafted to withstand just this kind of challenge.”

For the government to asses a penalty for a citizen’s failure to make a specified purchase in the private sector would undoubtedly be deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. Therefore the new law calls it a tax. In a court of law names do not prevail, attributes do. You cannot avoid licensing your dog by calling it a cat. This argument is weak.

The second argument is very interesting indeed. States rights have been Fabianized away over many years. A favorable ruling on this issue could stop the slide and maybe even reverse the trend. A hearing on this issue could have impact well beyond Obamacare.

I fear the stir among the states is but a scream in reaction to sudden pain that will subside with time, and along with it, the determination to pursue the SOTUS course. If the November elections offer hope of legislative appeal it would further lessen the incentive to go with the Supreme Court option. That would be unfortunate for we would miss an opportunity to watch a landmark case.

I GIVE YOU MY SOLE

Mr. Netanyahu, tear down those settlements !

Random Thots may owe Barack Obama an apology, and maybe not. It is possible he has a habit of putting his feet on our desk when talking to foreign heads of state. Or maybe his father was just not into teaching him manners.

If we need to apologize, so does Haaretz. It’s a good photo. All it lacks is a cigar.

China sends Rio Tinto employees to jail

SHANGHAI (AP)
A Chinese court has sentenced four employees of mining giant Rio Tinto to jail terms of seven to 14 years on bribery and commercial secrets charges.
The court in Shanghai said Monday that Australian national Stern Hu and three Chinese co-workers were guilty of charges of bribery and stealing business secrets.
The stiff sentences come in a case seen as a barometer of China’s treatment of foreign business at a time of rising trade friction.

I have to wonder if you can do business in China without engaging in some generous cooperation. As a nation, they did a little door opening themselves with the Clintons.

Good news, and we can surely use it!

Here is a sign Congress, including a great many Democrats, realize what a big mistake Obama is making in his treatment of Israel. This is the first concerted break I have noticed between Obama and elected Democrats.

The Jerusalem Post reports:

Meanwhile, in Washington, 337 congressmen – three-quarters of the House of Representatives – signed a bipartisan letter to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressing solid support for Israel and the expectation that differences between Jerusalem and Washington will be smoothed over quickly and in private.

“We are writing to reaffirm our commitment to the unbreakable bond that exists between our country and the State of Israel and to express to you our deep concern over recent tension,” the letter read. “A strong Israel is an asset to the national security of the United States and brings stability to the Middle East.

Obama is a master at subtle insults, inside insults. Some months ago he was photographed with the bottom of his shoes to the camera as he spoke with Netanyahu on the phone. The average American would think little of it, but in the Mid-East it is a show of utter contempt. Congress be praised for clarifying to Israel that the rift is with Obama, not with the United States.

OF SPITS AND SLURS, SPINS AND LIES,

A cadre of Black Congressmen walks through a gathering of mostly white folks milling about in peaceful protest. The crowd is orderly and of its’ own accord, clears a broad path for the advancing men. But one overzealous individual in the crowd is given to shouting with hands cupped to send his angry message directly at the politicians passing by. He is ignored by them, as they climb the steps they keep a discreet distance from the shouting protester, except for one, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (D) MO.
Cleaver stops, steps close to the shouter and confronts him face to face. Now I must say, if a Congressman is stupid enough to go out of his way to put his face in front of an angry man screaming his lungs out at him, he has no business complaining about the natural result. He may have stepped in front of a shower but he was not spat upon. A tourist, looking somewhat lost, was heard to say – “A mad protester and a stupid politician. This must be Washington.”
Cleaver then follows the others, who never broke stride. A single member of the Capital police force, a young woman, trails casually along at the rear.

You have no doubt seen the reports – Tea Bagger spits on civil rights hero John Lewis. Protesters scream ‘nigger’ and ‘faggot’. Police escort Congressmen safely into building. Spitter arrested by Capital Police. Now you have seen the video. Continue reading

GRAPHS GALORE

For facts and graphs that will blow you away (the HuffPo will probably charge me with inciting violence with that cliché) you have to go to A Goy and His Blog. Here is but a sample of his work. This Goy has done a great service. Paul Ryan move over, here comes the Goy.
I apologize for the size, but you can click it to enlarge. My webmaster is a lazy cat named Loosey and, like the government , is no help at all.

There is much more on this blog site. Do not fail to take a look.

TODAYS RANDOM EVENTS

More SocialismObama administration announces it will require lenders to temporarily slash or eliminate monthly mortgage payments.

Fidel Castro praises Obama for following in his footsteps.

More spendingObama’s 2011 budget will raise the accumulated national debt to 90% of GDP in 10 years.

More insultsObama snubs Israeli Prime Minister by refusing to eat with him. I know that is a crass way of expressing it but it is appropriate to the occasion. Obama walked away from the Prime Minister to have dinner alone.

More insolvency – The Pansy scheme on which Social Security operates had been forecast to remain with a positive cash flow in the year 2016. Today it was reported cash flow will turn negative this year.

The demand for US Treasury bonds on yesterday’s auction was weak. Concern about our looming debt is making our bonds harder to sell without offering higher rates in compensation for declining quality.

UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES

Benefits and even jobs will be lost in the wake of ObamaCare. Yahoo business page reports:

Remember the part in the ObamaCare pitch when they said if you like your current health care, it won’t change? Turns out it might.

Companies are already announcing that their health care premium costs are going through the roof. Some are responding by firing people. Some are cutting benefits. And some are presumably eating it.

One thing Washington never gets is the economic rule of rational expectations. That rule says people will react to changes in the law.  The reaction of employers may not be intended but it is predictable.

It is not correct that “some are eating it”. It is the consumer that will pay it because all expenses are eventually reflected in the price. The alternative ends in bankruptcy.
