THE AFTERMATH
Guy de Maupassant ends his great novel “Une Vie” with the statement “Life is never as good or as bad as one thinks.” Conservatives should understand that in politics, things are rarely as good or as bad as one thinks in the aftermath of an election.
Hat tip Paul MirengoffDEMOCRACY’S FATE
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.”

OBAMA’S PRESS CONFERENCE II
Democratic politicians are not as stupid as they sound. Well, most of them aren’t. The Democrats know that raising taxes in the midst of a recession is economic suicide. And as close as we are to 2012 it would be political suicide as well. The dilemma they faced all year long was how to extend the Bush tax rates and blame it on Republicans with Democrats in control of the House, the Senate and the Presidency.
Obama tried. Obama failed. He said [Failing to make the deal] “in terms of macroeconomics, the overall health of the economy, that would have been a damaging thing.” The essence of his televised message was that he did the right thing for the American people and he did it because he was forced into it by the Republicans. His monologue was full of condemnation, long on banality and short on substance. He spoke repeatedly of fights, battles and debates, the familiar language of a community organizer.
But he didn’t blame George Bush. Perhaps he saw this poll.
BREAKING NEWS!
The party is breaking up. The Democrats are splitting into two factions with Obama on the left and Pelosi and Reid on the left. The Obama crowd on the left continues to rally around the cry- “Bush did it!” The faction on the left, the other left, being more Progressive has decided to Move-On to the slogan “Obama did it! Don’t blame the rest of the party!”
The Dems know the Dude is done. Nancy Pelosi has ordered a new bus from Government Motors to be parked on the White House lawn. Harry Reid is getting the casinos to donate some red and blue pillows to put under the big vehicle. The contract to paint a presidential seal on the rear of the bus is going to an important campaign donor and the words AT LEAST I TRIED will appear in a ring around the seal. As Obama goes under the bus it will be in a style befitting his presidency.
Pelosi is going with the slogan “I did it! And it was all good!” In fact, in a private meeting with her Presidential Campaign Exploration Committee Nancy expressed confidence in her electoral chances, saying “By 2012 all the little people will have come to realize what I have done and vote for me.”
“No more negative campaigning,” she pledged with her characteristic smile. The theme will be forward looking and very progressive. With Obama gone we can pass Card Check to strengthen the labor unions, the DREAM Act to increase the population of Democratic voters and Cap and Trade as an outreach to other nations by making it easier for them to compete with U.S. industry. To reach the useful masses we will cry “Give us your votes and we will reduce your mortgage payments! We’ve done it before and we can do it again!”
They do have a point there. In fact some citizens no longer have to make any mortgage payments at all.

TOMORROW IS TUESDAY, GET OUT THERE AND DRAIN THE SWAMP
This is your opportunity. This time your vote will count, because it’s not just who wins that’s important, it’s also the margin by which they win or lose. The margin secures the message. It’s the strength of the message that will encourage and empower those you elect or diminish the power of those whom your vote failed to elect. It’s the margin in this election that will bring the timid from the closet and sway the undecided for the next election.
This can be your proud moment, more than just the fulfillment of an obligation.

IS IT LUDMILA OR ALINA?
The question is which one is Vladimir Putin’s most significant other?
Oh those ugly rumors, what’s a former president to do? Put it to the people Putin proposed in typical Putin style. Let’s do a television interview, Mr. and Mrs. on the couch in living color, earthy brown, to shown nothing special is going down.
Care was taken to set the stage. The décor not to put on the wall was meticulously chosen. The inebriants not to put on the table were carefully selected. The uniforms to be worn were aptly tailored. Nothing was overlooked, except the wedding rings. Uh-oh. Vladimir forgot to wear his and the misses had hers on her right hand which, in Russia, is the wrong hand for a married woman.
So it is not very clear at all. We are left to decide for ourselves who, in Putins mind, is the fairest of them all.

U.N. RESOLUTION TO DEFINE FREE SPEECH
Extracted verbatim from The Post American Presidency by Pamela Geller, pgs 9-11
In October 2009, the Obama administration cosponsored with Egypt an anti-free speech resolution at the United Nations. Approved by the UN Human Rights Council, the resolution calls on states to condemn and criminalize “any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence.”
What could be wrong with that? Everything.
There is, after all, the First Amendment, which preserves Americans’ right to free speech and freedom of the press.
“Incitement” and “hatred” are in the eye of the beholder – or more precisely, in the eye of those who make such determinations. The powerful can decide to silence the powerless by classifying their views as “hate speech.” The Founding Fathers knew that freedom of speech was an essential safeguard against tyranny: the ability to dissent, freely and publicly and without fear of imprisonment or other reprisal, is a cornerstone of any genuine republic. If some ideas cannot be heard and are proscribed from above, the ones in control are tyrants, however benevolent they may be.
Now no less a personage than the President of the United States has given his imprimatur to this tyranny.
In 2008 the Secretary General of the OIC, Ekmeleddin Ihsanglu, issued a warning. “We sent a clear message to the West regarding the red lines that should not be crossed” regarding free speech about Islam and terrorism. And he reported success: “The official West and its public opinion are all now well-aware of the sensitivities of these issues. They have also started to look seriously into the question of freedom of expression from the perspective of its inherent responsibility, which should not be overlooked.”
No American president has ever taken more seriously his “responsibility” to restrict the freedom of speech and bow to Muslim demands than Barack Hussein Obama.

AIM FOR THE BACK OF THEIR HEADS
I once asked Howard Cosell what he considered to be the highlight of his career as a sportscaster. Howard had a great sense of humor. He answered “Reporting live on the consummation of Woody Allen’s marriage in the movie Bananas ”. I remembered the scene and remarked that I was surprised that the network allowed him to wear his jacket with the ABC logo in the film. He said, “They didn’t.”
Cosell was a great admirer of Mohammad Ali as a boxer. He said Ali always fought to win. I think it was Howard who first asked Ali where he aimed when throwing a punch. “For the back of the head.” Ali replied. Now that we have the progressives and gangster government swaying on the canvas, it is not the time to pull any punches. Aim for the back of their heads. VOTE!
