SCHUMER ATTACKS FACEBOOK CO-FOUNDER. WANTS A BIGGER PIECE OF SAVERIN’S MONEY TO GO TO THE GOVERNMENT

Eduardo Saverin was born in Brazil and lives in Singapore which is his legal residence.  He applied for American citizenship and attended college in the United States where he met Mark Zuckerberg, and by some accounts was the prime techy in the structure of Facebook.

Saverin stands to get a big pot of money when Facebook finally becomes a public company and he will pay U.S. taxes on his gain when he sells the stock.  But all the tax that is legally due, and that’s about 600 million dollars, is not enough to satisfy the Democrats led by Chuck Schumer.  They plan to introduce a bill to double that.

It doesn’t end there. The Democrats also want to bar the man from  re-entering the U.S.  Way to go Democrats, an enterprising young man manages to create an additional 600 million dollars for the U.S. treasury and you want to pass a law preventing him or anyone else from coming back and doing it something like that again.  You are driving America from the land of opportunity to becoming the land to avoid for anyone with enterprising ingenuity. Yuk!

OBAMA IS FARING POORLY IN THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARIES

It is not news when an unopposed candidate wins an election.  However, it is news when a virtually unopposed incumbent President only wins state primaries by small margins against perennial crank contenders.  But it’s news that goes unreported. Many people don’t even know there are Democratic primaries this year.  Obama may actually lose in Arkansas.  Read more

Obama’s budget proposal was defeated 414 to zero in the house and 99 to zero in the Senate.  Not a single Democrat supported the President in his plan.  Even the New York Times reports these defeats, so the voters are aware of them.

The attempt to paint Republicans as engaging in a war against women is backfiring.  Romney is staying on target with his Debt clock.

The case is building for a possible resounding defeat.  The hurdle remains getting enough electoral votes to overcome the solidly Democratic states.

ROMNEY AND THE KKK CONNECTION

WALLACE AT THE DOOR

GEORGE WALLACE STANDING AT THE DOOR

CNN host Don Lemon wants to plant the idea in your mind that Mitt Romney’s belief that marriage is a union between a man and a woman is somehow equivalent to George Wallace’s stance that blacks should remain segregated forever.  Demonizing doesn’t get much more despicable than that.  Fortunately, it’s equally stupid.  When a black gay television host takes a religious belief held by 67% of the American people and calls it racist, the backlash will be far greater than any impact CNN or its host had hoped to make.

Few people today even know who George Wallace was.  No, he was not a news reporter.  He was elected Governor of Alabama in 1962 in a landslide on the promise to his constituents that he would fight to maintain segregation of blacks in America forever.  And he meant it.  He is also famous for standing in the doorway to an auditorium at the University of Alabama in a showdown with the federal government.  He stood in the doorway in order to block the entrance of two students because they were black.  George Wallace was, of course, a Democrat.

Now click this link and watch the CNN video.  It is very brief.

This is the type of journalism we are up against today.  One thing we have going for us is that the Left has not learned yet that they no longer have the only voice.  For years there was never a need to defend whatever they said.  As a result they set themselves up for easy ridicule and exposure of the nonsense and demagoguery they preach.

There is no KKK connection and the people know it.

HIGH PRICED BULBS FROM HOLLAND AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME NO TULIPS

Who would announce a 10 million dollar prize for the development of an affordable American made 60 watt light bulb and then award the money to a foreign company that prices the affordable bulb at 50 dollars and doesn’t manufacture it in the United States?  There are only two possibilities, a fool or the U.S. government.

`          THE WINNER !

HERE THEY ARE, COME AND GET ‘EM, 50 BUCKS APIECE

The bulbs do last longer; the claim is 10 years in 8 hour daily use.  They wear out gradually and diminish in brightness as they age so you may want to replace them sooner.  The bulbs generate light in the spectrum referred to as warm which means not as white as an incandescent bulb.  That may be fine if you want to use 6o watters for soft romantic room lighting, but they can be a bit of a strain for reading.

Philips says it is not manufactured in the U.S. but it’s assembled in Wisconsin and some of the parts are made in California.  How an item like a simple light bulb can be manufactured in one country without being assembled there is not explained.  Perhaps it has to do with the bulb costing 50 dollars.

What’s next, a 5 thousand dollar affordable 20 inch lawnmower that doesn’t require gasoline, made in China but the wheels are put on in Idaho?  That’s my comment for today; stay well and don’t forget to flush twice.

RULES for RADICALS by SAUL ALINSKY – TACTICS

Continuing with the chapter by chapter series on Rules for Radicals, today we add Comments about the chapter called Tactics.

Synopsis of the chapter entitled Tactics
The tag line following the heading of this chapter is a quote from the great warrior Hannibal,

“We will find a way, or make one.”

The reason for having a defined set of tactics is to provide a specific set of rules that teach “how the Have-Nots can take power away from the Haves”, i.e. how to organize the lower classes in order to take power away from the middle and upper classes.  The message from Hannibal is not to constrain yourself to working within societal norms.  You need to be able and willing to do whatever it takes to do to get the job done.

These are the thirteen rules of Tactics that need to be observed in the process of wresting power from the establishment.  Each tactic is presented here word for word as it appears in the book.

1. Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.

2. Never go outside the experience of your people.

3. Wherever possible go outside the experience of the enemy.

4. Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.

5. Ridicule is man’s most important weapon.

6. A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.

7. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.

8. Keep the pressure on.

9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.

10. The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure on the opposition.

11. If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside.

12. The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.

13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.

The final rule is by far the most important.  The author devotes more pages to an understanding of this rule than to all of the first twelve rules combined.  This, of course, is the tactic of personal destruction.  Ridicule and personal destruction are two of the most effective tools known for deflating an enemy’s power and they must be utilized to the fullest extent possible.

Commentary
By opening with the Hannibal quote, the professor shows his determination to replace traditional Judeo-Christian standards of ethical behavior with a more convenient concept of right and wrong in the minds of his students.  If the use of demagoguery, lying and deceit facilitate the creation of a better world then these methods are more than just acceptable practice, it is the moral duty of a leader to employ them.  Judeo-Christian principles have no place in Alinsky’s model of political activism.

The key tactics on the list are numbers 13, 5 and 4, in that order.

Number 13 should be familiar to everyone; it’s the tactic of personal destruction.  It starts with “Pick the target”; the natural choice is the adversary who represents the greatest current threat, take Sarah Palin as an example.  “Freeze it”, be relentless, keep the target always on the defensive.  Stop them from moving forward by a constant need for responding to your attacks.  The DNC sent a SWAT team of 30 high powered lawyers and Democratic operatives accompanied by members of the liberal MSM to Alaska at the height of her popularity.  “Personalize it”, spread a story like the rumor that Palin’s daughter got pregnant while still in high school and her mother lied to cover up for her by claiming the baby was her own.  “Polarize it”, surround the targeted person with controversy to maintain the public interest and keep the issue alive.

The practice of personal destruction is deplorable and in many cases vicious.  Unfortunately it is also effective.  Only you can change that.  The more the public recognizes demonizing for what it is and responds inversely to it (backlash), the less effective it will become.

Tactic number 5 is ridicule.  Whereas the Democratic Party is the party of personal destruction, it’s the Republican Party that excels at ridicule.  Vice President Joe Biden is the current example.  Ridicule is very effective because it is nearly impossible to counter attack and it infuriates the person ridiculed, often prompting a reaction that works to the ridiculer’s advantage.

Tactic number 4 is hypocrisy.  No one lives up to their own beliefs every hour of every day of every year.  When an opponent slips, call them on it.  It works better against the Right than it does against the Left.  As we have learned from the book, the far Left has lower standards and is less likely to condemn one of their own for violating them.  Herman Cain was quickly destroyed by unproven allegations of improper sexual advances.  Bill Clinton’s illicit sexual activity went far beyond improper advances yet his popularity within his Party, even among the women, suffered only minor decline.

One more tactic deserves mention and that’s number 12.  How can there be a price for a successful attack?  The book explains “You cannot risk being trapped by the enemy [Alinsky commonly refers to those with opposing views as the enemy] in his sudden agreement with your demand and saying ‘You’re right-We don’t know what to do about this.  Now you tell us’”.

Radical Left leaders know issues are not for solving while the ‘enemy’ is still in control.  Issues are tools for building discontent with the status quo, a necessary step in the process of deposing those in control.  To solve an issue is to waste it.

If only two things are learned from studying this chapter they should be, (1) the realization that, in politics, ridicule and personal attacks are not spontaneous reactions; they carefully planned and organized tactics chosen as part of an overall strategy, (2) there are no standards of truth or relevance standing behind them.

ROMNEY’S COMMENCEMENT SPEECH TO LIBERTY UNIVERSITY GRADUATES

Commencement – Beginning – The Start – Coming Out – Commencement is much more than a ceremony; it’s the day when graduates leave the confined world of learning for the open and uncertain world of application.  A good commencement speech clarifies, motivates, explains, congratulates and warns.  An excellent commencement speech gives the graduating class a sense of culture to bolster them when the going gets tough, and there will be times that it surely will.

Romney gave an excellent commencement speech when he addressed Liberty University’s Graduating Class of 2012 with these words:

“You enter a world with civilizations and economies that are far from equal.  Harvard historian David Landes devoted his lifelong study to understanding why some civilizations rise, and why others falter.  His conclusion:  Culture makes all the difference.  Not natural resources, not geography, but what people believe and value.  Central to America’s rise to global leadership is our Judeo-Christian tradition, with its vision of the goodness and possibilities of every life.

The American culture promotes personal responsibility, the dignity of work, the value of education, the merit of service, devotion to a purpose greater than self, and, at the foundation, the pre-eminence of the family.

The power of these values is evidenced by a Brookings Institution study that Senator Rick Santorum brought to my attention.  For those who graduate from high school, get a full-time job, and marry before they have their first child, the probability that they will be poor is 2%.  But, if those things are absent, 76% will be poor.  Culture matters.

As fundamental as these principles are, they may become topics of democratic debate.  So it is today with the enduring institution of marriage.  Marriage is a relationship between one man and one woman.”

It’s not Reaganesque in style, but it’s Reaganesque in essential substance.  Here is more.

“Moral certainty, clear standards, and a commitment to spiritual ideals will set you apart in a world that searches for meaning.

[Y]our values will not always be the object of public admiration.  In fact, the more you live by your beliefs, the more you will endure the censure of the world.  Christianity is not the faith of the complacent, the comfortable or of the timid.  It demands and creates heroic souls like Wesley, Wilberforce, Bonhoeffer, John Paul the Second, and Billy Graham.  Each showed, in their own way, the relentless and powerful influence of the message of Jesus Christ.  May that be your guide.”

This man Romney is looking better every day.

WHICH NATION HAS THE LARGEST OIL RESERVES?

Obama is fond of saying that the United States has just 2% of the world’s oil reserves but consumes 25% of world production.  Sometimes he says 20% so you don’t know which to believe, 25, 20 or the truth.  But the big lie is the 2%.  The U.S. has more oil reserves that any other nation, in fact more oil reserves than all the other nations.

“The Green River Formation–an assemblage of over 1,000 feet of sedimentary rocks that lie beneath parts of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming–contains the world’s largest deposits of oil shale,”Anu K. Mittal, the GAO’s director of natural resources and environment said in written testimony submitted to the House Science Subcommittee on Energy and Environment.

“USGS estimates that the Green River Formation contains about 3 trillion barrels of oil, and about half of this may be recoverable, depending on available technology and economic conditions,” Mittal testified.

“The Rand Corporation, a nonprofit research organization, estimates that 30 to 60 percent of the oil shale in the Green River Formation can be recovered,” Mittal told the subcommittee.  “At the midpoint of this estimate, almost half of the 3 trillion barrels of oil would be recoverable.  This is an amount about equal to the entire world’s proven oil reserves.”  [Emphasis added]

And that’s just from 3 states in the middle of the country.  It doesn’t include Alaska, Texas , the Gulf or any other of the many oil fields around the country.  2% – Phooey!

HOW ABOUT $179,750 PER HOUR

No, that’s not a job offer.  It’s the cost of operating the airplane known as Air Force One according to the Pentagon.

Like the White House, it belongs to you and me.  We gladly pay the expenses and give the sitting President to privilege of using them.  When we elect another president we expect the departing President to leave them behind.  Air Force One is not Barack Obama’s private jet.  Would someone please tell CBS.

IT'S NOT HIS, IT'S OURS

The President used our plane to go coast to coast across the country to raise some money for himself.  Reporting on the trip to George Clooney’s house (that’s where the money was) CBS said “The star of the evening, the president, arrived at LAX in his private jet, Air Force One.”  Now CBS, you know the man you call president with a small p doesn’t believe in private jets.  What’s LAX is your reporting , I believe.

UNCOMMON WISDOM – BOB HOOVER

Every pilot knows the name Bob Hoover.  He is a master at the controls of any airplane from fighter jet to a single engine prop personal bug smasher.  Bob is famous for his trick of pouring a cup of tea with one hand while putting the plane through a complete roll without spilling a drop.

Years ago piston and turbine aircraft had the same size fuel hoses and a young line boy accidentally filled Bob Hoover’s piston engine aircraft with jet fuel. The engine will run for a while but then it will die.

In Bob’s case, there was enough clean fuel in the lines to taxi out, depart and climb to about 100 feet when the jet fuel caused his engines to quit. The airport (Brown Field outside San Diego) is surrounded with mountains which are probably the worst emergency landing locations imaginable. Bob drew on his skills and landed uphill, stalling right at touchdown, and pilot and passengers emerged unhurt.

Later, Bob returned to the airport and found the extremely red-faced line boy. He looked at him and said “Tomorrow I’ll be back to fly and I’ll need fuel added to my aircraft. And when I do, I only want one person to do it. And that person is you.”

Bob knew that, of all the line men at Brown Field, only one was guaranteed to have learned the seriousness of putting the right fuel in an aircraft.  He also knew how to treat and train a young line boy.  And that’s uncommon wisdom.
