FORMER PRESIDENT BUSH RAISES TAXES

FORMER PRESIDENT BUSH RAISES TAXES

The Bush tax cuts are coming to an end. Taxes are going up. Everyone knows it, even those who deny it. Bush is to blame.

This was Bush’s law. He is the one who signed the bill into a law  allowing taxes to be hoisted back up next year. Obama had nothing to do with it. The Bush-BP spill is hardly behind us, the Bush recession is worse than we thought, and now Bush is raising our taxes.

I am mad! I am so mad I could spit and slur!

BLOG CONTENT AND APPEARANCE CHANGES

The Random Thots blog is hosted by Word Press and built upon a theme (layout) selected from among hundreds offered by Word Press. We chose a theme called Cutline because we liked its simplicity. On Monday, Aug 9, Word Press discontinued the Cutline theme.

This resulted in loss of content and some changes in appearance and features. Please bear with us while we work to restore and improve the site. Bob B

REGARDING RANGLE

CHARLES RANGLE (D) NY

Charlie, you have lost your charm. You could have faded away with dignity. But no, you chose to clear your name. Now how silly is that?

You were a likeable opponent, never caustic, always ready with a smile. You brought respect to the seamier side of politics. Now you’ve blown it all. The share of corruption you took for yourself was small potatoes in the world of politics. It would have been forgiven and forgotten. We expect these little imperfections in a politician.

Your indignation is spoiling it all. Go home Charlie, while we still love you.

STATE FUNDING BILL SPENDS 26B ON GOVERNMENT

The Democratic Party is the party of the government, for the government and by the government. The Republican Party is the party of the rest of the people.

Government is the civic worker’s employer. The Republican Party calls for downsizing of government. Downsizing brings job insecurity and lessened opportunity for workers on a government payroll. The Democratic Party, on the other hand, fights for growth and expansion of government. For those employed by government the Democratic Party offers greater job security and an increased measure of opportunity. Thus it is reasonable and natural that the Democratic Party would be the party of the government.

Today’s passage of the 26B dollar State funding bill is a prime example. It was promoted by the Administration as a bill to send money from the Federal government to the State governments for payment of salaries to teachers, police, firemen and first responders, government workers all.

The Republican Party argues for growth in all areas, except government. In the matter of job security, the Republican Party is the party of everyone other than government employees. In that sense, it is the party of the people.

Herein lie the makings of a vicious cycle. The bigger government gets, the more people there are who vote for bigger government. Democracy is a fragile system. This is just one of its vulnerabilities.

VIRGINIA JOINS ARIZONA IN IMMIGRATION FIGHT

VIRGINIA GOVERNOR McDONNELL

Virginia Gov. McDonnell is paving the way for authorizing the VA State Police to check for immigration status when they stop individuals for other reasons. Virginia joins a growing list of States who see the need to step in and act where the Federal government has failed them.

Nine States have filed amicus briefs in Federal Court in support of Arizona in the pending case of the Obama government vs. the State of Arizona. Those States are AL, FL, MI, NE, PA, SC and TX. Five States have gone a step further and have introduced their own legislation in the same vein as Arizona’s. Those States are SC, PA, MI, MN and RI. Others expected to introduce similar legislation soon are FL, TX and UT.

If the first obligation of government is to keep its citizens safe, should not the second obligation be to keep the States United? It is the President’s responsibility to maintain such unity. Obama, however, has brought a bucket of gasoline to put out the fire.

In Rules for Radicals, Saul Alinsky taught that the first goal for a community organizer needs to be acceptance. The second is to agitate. Crisis and controversy are tools to be used to bring an increase of power. Obama is strengthening his position with his core following and shows no concern for the division he is feeding. This is wholly consistent with his Marxist leanings.

DUELING BANJOS

Here is a classic from the movie “Deliverance”. The setting is four buddies from the north are in hostile southern backwoods territory trying to get set up for a wilderness canoe trip. This scene is just a taste of the hostility to come that includes rape and killing.

This great piece of music in this video is in juxtaposition to the rest of the movie.

1099 TAX REPORTING FIASCO

1099 Form filing requirement is nightmare for small corporations

Imagine you own a small incorporated business, perhaps a landscaping business and you rent a de-thatcher for a couple of days, or perhaps it’s a donut shop and you have a new sign painted for the front door. The Obamacare law requires you to prepare and issue 1099 Tax Reporting forms reporting to the IRS that the rental agency and the sign painter received money from you. In fact you must report to the IRS anyone who received 600 dollars or more from you during the year.

It is preposterous! It so onerous it would be nearly impossible to comply with it. In fact, there is no way it will be complied with. This provision must be repealed. Republicans insist and Democrats acknowledge it cannot stand. Republicans say repeal it. Democrats insist on replacing it. Stalemate. The Democrats don’t want simply to repeal it because it was designed to raise 19 billion in new income taxes.

The Dems were right, we would never have known what is in the Obamacare bill if it had not become law.
