Poor Al Gore, his schtick is losing its oomph.  The temperature stats are in for 2011 are in.  NASA has declared that global warming ended in 1997.  And a report from the British meteorological authorities at the infamous East Anglia University laboratories agrees.  For the alarmists out there I would point out these reports are not from Rush Limbaugh.  They are from NASA and East Anglia, the United Nation’s most favored source for climate change data.

The UK Daily Mail reports,

Based on readings from more than 30,000 measuring stations, the data was issued last week without fanfare by the Met [Meteorological] Office and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit. It confirms that the rising trend in world temperatures ended in 1997.

There were some warming deniers but the serious debate over the last decade or more was about the cause, not the temperatures.  The cautionary side said “We think the reason the planet is warming is because the sun is emitting more heat.  It’s a cycle.  It’s not because there are too many lawn mowers and farting cows.  We know that scientists disagree over whether or not the warming is anthropological.  Let us not be rash lest we wind up playing Don Quixote to the sun.

The alarmists, on the other hand, stated flatly that the warming was man-made.  They said the science is settled, which it is not.  The warming alarmists also claimed there is a consensus and that proves their point of view.  But consensus has no standing in science.  Consensus once held that the sun revolves around a world that is flat.  Science politicized is science polluted.

The hoax is still running.  There is still money to be made.  But when the mantra changes from the Global Warming Crisis to the Climate Change Crisis it’s a sign the easy money has already been made.

Shawn Domagal-Goldman, a NASA affiliated scientist, joined with colleagues at Pennsylvania State University to complete a study that warns of possible dire consequences from extra extraterrestrials if they sense how we are destroying the planet.  I kid you not; it’s in the report.

From the UK Guardian

Humanity may just now be entering the period in which its rapid civilisational expansion could be detected by an ETI [Extra Territorial Intelligence] because our expansion is changing the composition of the Earth’s atmosphere, via greenhouse gas emissions,” the report states.

“Green” aliens might object to the environmental damage humans have caused on Earth and wipe us out to save the planet. “These scenarios give us reason to limit our growth and reduce our impact on global ecosystems. It would be particularly important for us to limit our emissions of greenhouse gases, since atmospheric composition can be observed from other planets,” the authors write.

Are there any sane scientists left or have they all gone Gore?

The noted revisionist historian Howard Zinn taught his students that a historian’s responsibility was to the future, not the past. To Howard Zinn, framing history in a manner that promotes a better world was a higher calling than recording history as it actually happened. Exactly what that better world may be is, of course, in the eye of the historian. For Zinn, it was socialism. The idea of adjusting history or any other truth to further an ideology is a variation of the rationale that “the ends justify the means”.

The same moral relativism is seen today in the science world. Here’s a sampling of quotes that illustrate the fact.

“We have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we may have. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest.”
Stephen Schneider (leading advocate of the global warming theory in an interview for Discover magazine, Oct 1989)

In other words, when your findings don’t support your premise, fudge the findings.

“Scientists who want to attract attention to themselves, who want to attract great funding to themselves, have to (find a) way to scare the public . . . and this you can achieve only by making things bigger and more dangerous than they really are.”
Petr Chylek (Professor of Physics and Atmospheric Science, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, commenting on reports by other researchers that Greenland’s glaciers are melting. Halifax Chronicle-Herald, August 22, 2001)

If the truth doesn’t get you what you need, then fabricate and exaggerate.

“No matter if the science is all phony, there are collateral environmental benefits…. Climate change [provides] the greatest chance to bring about justice and equality in the world.”
Christine Stewart, former Minister of the Environment of Canada
Quote from the Calgary Herald, 1999

The story doesn’t need to be true. We can still use it to spread the wealth around.

Stewart is a politician not a scientist so she can’t be accused of professional fraud. But it reveals that just the fear of warming serves a purpose in and of itself. The validity of the fear is of no concern to those who see its usefulness in advancing a socialist agenda.

Science politicized is science polluted. Science polluted isn’t science at all.

ABC reports from Cancun:

Encroaching seas in the far Pacific are raising the salt level in the wells of the Marshall Islands. Waves threaten to cut one sliver of an island in two. “It’s getting worse,” says Kaminaga Kaminaga, the tiny nation’s climate change coordinator.

The rising ocean raises questions, too: What happens if the 61,000 Marshallese must abandon their low-lying atolls? Would they still be a nation? With a U.N. seat? With control of their old fisheries and their undersea minerals? Where would they live, and how would they make a living? Who, precisely, would they and their children become?                    (Emphasis ours)

However, the oceans around the Marshalls haven’t risen since the 1930’s and salt in the wells is due to excessive depletion by the pineapple growers, not from “encroaching seas.” According to world renowned sea level scientist Dr. Nils-Axel Mörner, the claim that this sea level is rising is a total fraud and he presents the science to back up his assertion.

Further down the ABC report we find this:

This week in Cancun and in the months to come, the Marshalls’ representatives will seek international aid for climate adaptation. They envision such projects as a Jaluit causeway, replanting of protective vegetation on shorelines, and a 3-mile-long (5-kilometer-long) seawall protecting their capital, Majuro, from the Pacific’s rising tides.

It’s always about the money, isn’t it? In fact it’s only about the money, isn’t it?

Harold Koh put it well when he said global warming is a tool “to level the playing field”. The global warming issue is not only a tool of local government, it is also a tool of international socialism, one world government. The leveling Koh referred to was leveling between nations, a bringing down of the strong and bringing up the weak. Equality of status is the goal.

The failure of the Copenhagen conference to get a treaty signed was a crushing blow to the Left. The treaty as written would have established a transnational government agency with control over all signatory nations in matters deemed to affect the environment. It also would have legitimized the concept of pre-established “climate debt”, the idea that successfully functioning nations owe a debt to the lesser prosperous nations on the grounds that the former have emitted more carbon dioxide. Two major goals would have been reached in one treaty, as both power and wealth would have been “spread around” between nations.

Transnationalism is the term for the advocacy of a one world power. The United Nations is a transnational agency. Transnationalism is by its nature a darling of the Left as it melds the strong with the weak, the accomplished with the dysfunctional and the noble with the rogue. Proponents of socialism think big. They are not constrained by reality. Given a one world government the bliss of socialism could be brought to the whole world in one fell swoop.

Man-made global warming, or “climate change” as it is now called, is the tool du jour. Unfortunately, there is no scientific analysis that rises to the level of proof as to the cause of the current warming cycle. Certainly there is no proof the warming that has occurred is man-made. But proof doesn’t matter. What matters is does the tool work. And it does.

Tipper and Al’s net worth grew from an estimated one million in the year 2000 to an estimated one hundred million 10 years later according to the Washington Examiner.

Al Gore has parlayed politics and his zeal for talking about global warming into an Academy Award, a Grammy and the Noble Peace Prize in 2007. He is a co-founder of Current TV, brings in six figures for speaking gigs, is a member of the Board of Directors at Apple, Inc. and serves as a senior adviser to Google.

From 1 to 100 in 10 years and still going, six figures for a global warming speech, and no jail time – makes Bernie Madoff look like a piker.

Mr. Gore has a habit of barring the press from his speeches. Google “Gore bars press” and “Gore limits press” for more instances of avoidance of press coverage. He also does not take questions or limits questions to 3 or 4 chosen from pre-submitted cards. On at least one occasion he required the press to leave the room after the first 5 minutes of his talk.

He was very vocal when Exxon Mobil’s ship ran aground in Alaska. He has been uncharacteristically silent on the BP disaster. Rumors are rife as to the reason. It does beg the question, why, when Mr. Gore has stood for banning offshore drilling and said: “For me, this issue is not only an economic issue and a health issue, it is also a moral issue,” For some reason the same morals do not seem to extend to the shorelines of our Gulf states.

If you were to smooth the red temperature line on the chart by drawing a regression (best fit) line back to 1998 the chart would look like an X, with CO2 rising and temperatures declining. Gore clings to the claim temperature are rising and CO2 is the cause. He is wrong on both counts.

If you are planning a canoe trip up North this year, perhaps to the Bering Sea, you no longer need to fear the consequences of an inadvertent paddle across the line in the water that marks the Russian border. We are on the same side now. But the campsite you used last year may no longer be reachable by water.

According to this report, ice coverage is increasing in the Arctic. That raises concern for the polar bears who now have to waddle farther to get to the water where the seals are. Where is PETA when you need them?

Al Gore preached another warming sermon on April 8th but we don’t know if he addressed the polar bear issue because he disallowed press coverage except for the first 5 minutes. And he wouldn’t take questions from the floor, only by previously submitted cards so the inconvenient ones could be screened out.

Global temperatures have not risen past their peak established in 1998, twelve years ago. The solution to that problem was to change the mantra from “global warming” to “climate change”. Now we need to give more control to the government so they can combat climate change. Autumn colors are an extravagance the planet can no longer afford.

Poor Al, central to his case was the frightening hockey stick graph with the handle representing the world up until now, and the upward pointing end that whacks the puck representing the suffering we would endure when it hit us. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the concoction of some fraudulent scientists. Record cold temperatures were recorded across the nation last winter and it snowed in Bagdad.

So you can’t blame the former Vice President for being nervous. With warming cooling he is feeling the heat. His very raison d’etre is slipping away. His income is in jeopardy. He lost his job with the government. His old Buddy Bill of Clinton fame has accused him of citing the advent of Spring as proof of global warming. That must have hurt. But he won’t go homeless. I am sure some Senator will be glad to build an igloo for him.

Apparently the moose population has declined in Minnesota. The Minneapolis Star Tribune explains moose are heat sensitive and “researchers continue to believe”… Let’s stop right there for a moment. Whenever you read “studies show” or “researcher say” the best thing to do is immediately skip to the next paragraph or beyond. If the writer knew of any studies or research he would have named them.

Back to the story, hat tip to Power Line,,.the Trib goes on to tie the moose decline to global warming. Over the last 50 years mean temps in Minnesota have increased one half of one degree fahrenheit. That is 0.01% every year. Wow! I had no idea moose were that sensitive. I no longer dare say how awkward they look if there is a bull moose around.
Personally, I don’t think global warming is the reason. If it were, the moose population in other states that are also part of the globe and must be warming would not be increasing, but it is. If  it’s not global warming the only other thing it could be is something Bush did. Must be.

Time magazine has an explanation for the great blizzards of 2010. Guess what. It’s global warming. Read it here. Prediction – look for articles about how older Americans are freezing to death in unheated apartments due to global warming.

Here comes the New York Times, verily as I type, with their 50 cents worth. Drudge points to the article with this – “NYT- Blizzard due to warming”. That’s a little harsh. It is not a bad article. I liked the part about Senator Inhofe building a 6 foot high igloo on capitol hill with a sign on it “Al Gore’s New Home”.
