THE MAN WHO SHOULD BE PRESIDENT

The most predictable financial crisis the nation has ever faced and Democrats fight every attempt to thwart it.  Our problems are Afghanistan, Iran, jobs, declining quality of healthcare and skyrocketing federal debt.  But all the Democrats want to discuss is sex.

It is hard to know which is worse, this diversionary tactic by the Democratic machine or Republicans for giving it legs.  Given Obama’s horrible record on both domestic and international fronts, you can hardly blame the Democrats for wanting to change the subject.  Paul Ryan is the man with the right message and he sticks to it.  The candidates would do well to do the same.

PERILOUS TIMES

The headlines below are un-edited from the Drudge Report on Feb. 15,2012.  I regrouped them into rough categories and dropped some punctuation, those are the only changes made.  Arranged this way the headlines paint a picture of a U.S policy to weaken itself militarily in face of rising external threats, the possibility of Iran’s promulgating a second holocaust , turning a blind eye to China’s human rights record while they conduct a vast military buildup, unabated political corruption, the direction the Arab Spring is taking, the failure of Obama’s economic policies and a growing loss of personal freedoms.

MEMORANDUM MACHT FREI

This photo-shopped picture of German Chancellor Angela Merkel was printed in a Greek newspaper.  The offensive image was captioned “Memorandum macht frei” a slogan relating to the Auschwitz extermination camp of World War II.

These are only the headlines, from only one publication, on only one day and it’s not even lunch time. We are indeed living in perilous times. Obama voters, are you sure you want Barack Obama in charge for four more years?

STRAITS OF HORMUZ THREATENED WITH CLOSURE — GLOBAL ECONOMY AT PERIL

Iran has announced military maneuvers in preparation for a possible closing the Straits of Hormuz.  One third of the world’s supply of crude oil delivered by sea must go through this narrow passage between Iran and The United Arab Republics, at the base of the Persian Gulf, before the ships can reach the open waters of the Arabian Sea.

The crippling effect of a disruption in shipments lasting more than 60 days could rival that of the oil embargo in 1973.  That embargo set up the serious recession of 1974.  Long lines formed at gas stations when they had a delivery as the fuel quickly sold out.  It was difficult to find any station at all that was open on a weekend.  Iran knows the value of a threat, particularly in light of the present fragility of the international economy.  What we have here is a prime example of why stability in the Mid-East is so vital.

Not to worry.  It’s only a threat, and I’m sure our President will ask Iran not to do it.

IRANIUM THE MOVIE

IRANIUM is a 60 minute film documenting the history of Iran and its current intentions and goals. Such experts on the region as Bernard Lewis and Michael Ledeen are interviewed in the film along with others including Walid Phares, John Bolton and both Democratic and Republican lawmakers. Here is how Clarion, the producers, describe this important documentary.

Iran’s nuclear program presents a threat to international stability. Yet successive American administrations—Republican and Democratic alike—have misread the intentions and actions of the Iranian regime.

How dangerous is a nuclear Iran, even if it never detonates a weapon? What are the guiding principles of the Iranian leadership? To what lengths would the regime go to carry out its agenda? How far have Iran’s leaders already gone to fund the world’s most powerful terrorist organizations? And why have American leaders failed to gain the upper hand in relations with Iran during the past 30 years?

In approximately 60 minutes, Iranium powerfully reports on the many aspects of the threat America and the world now face using rarely-before seen footage of Iranian leaders, and interviews with 25 leading politicians, Iranian dissidents, and experts on: Middle East policy, terrorism, and nuclear proliferation.

■Iranium documents the development of Iran’s nuclear threat, beginning with the Islamic Revolution of 1979 and the ideology installed by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini.
■Iranium tracks Iran’s use of terror as a tool of policy, beginning with the 444 day seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, through Iran’s insurgent actions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
■Iranium details the brutal nature of the Iranian regime to its own citizens, and the Iranian people’s desire to rejoin the international community.
■Iranium outlines the various scenarios the greater Middle East and the Western world may face should Iran cross the nuclear threshold.

The production premieres in theatres, we believe, on Tuesday Feb 8. The Heritage Foundation is one of five supporters the IRANIUM. The full length film is available for a limited time by going to this link. You will be asked for your email address, nothing more.

Monday

Harry Reid comes out against the Mosque’s being built at ground zero.
What’s next? Will he run as a Tea Party candidate?

Tuesday
French police fine male tourists for appearing shirtless in public.
In France?? How can this be? The report specifies “tourists”. Does that mean residents are exempt from the $48 “show-your-abs” fee? Or could it be that the fee simply doesn’t apply because French men are too discreet (or embarrassed) to show off their chests in the first place?

Wednesday
Dr Laura decides to call it quits.
After listening to the complete audio I must say she owes a big apology to the caller. You can find the complete audio at Media Matters on this page.

Thursday

This time there were no anomalies such as was the case when the census workers were released. It is FDR all over again.

WOMEN’S RIGHTS, U.N. STYLE

The United Nations arm for overseeing women’s rights is the Commission on the Status of Women. Right off the bat, if you permit me the vernacular, there is a problem with the title. It is not propagandic. It is straight forward and honest. The commission is not about promoting equality for women, it is about the status of women, that’s all.

For a look beyond the title we go to the Commission’s own website where we find their mission statement which says,

[The Commission is] dedicated exclusively to gender equality and advancement of women. It is the principal global policy-making body. Every year, representatives of Member States gather at United Nations Headquarters in New York to evaluate progress on gender equality, identify challenges, set global standards and formulate concrete policies to promote gender equality and advancement of women worldwide.

Well, that’s better; “policies to promote gender equality”, good. At least the ethics missing from the title are present in the mission statement. Perhaps I should soften my view of the U.N., but wait. I see a recently appointed member of the very same Commission was preparing to stone a woman to death for an alleged indiscretion. Sharia (Islamic law) calls for the young mother to be buried to her shoulders then stoned to death. It has been deferred, deferred mind you, not canceled.

Should the Commission call for an equal number of men to be stoned? That is a very sick joke. So is the United Nations.

SOUTH THRU THE SUEZ

THE USS TRUMAN IS AMONG THE ARMADA

First it was seven, and then it was eleven, now it is twelve U.S. Navy warships passing through the Suez Canal on their way to…? The destination remains undeclared but no one doubts that it is the Indian Ocean and the coast of Iran.

Let’s look at some dots to connect.
Ahmadinejad has promised to eliminate the nation of Israel and hasten the return of the twelfth Imam. He has recently announced the creation of a second reactor for enrichment of uranium more powerful than the first. Iran’s progression toward the goal of nuclear armament has continued unfettered. There is no reason to assume the first attack would be limited to one bomb.

More dots.
On April 15th the New York Times quoted a National Intelligence Agency report saying” Iran would probably be able to produce a nuclear weapon between 2010 and 2015”. It is now 2010 and a half. If nuclear attack is to come, waiting for the enemy to drop the first atomic bombs is not an option for tiny Israel. Netanyahu is a man of action and understands the very survival of the nation he leads is at stake. Riyadh has just cleared a path and granted permission for Israeli war planes to cross Saudi Arabia shortening the route to Iran. A Muslim nation is facilitating a Jewish nation in a potential act of war upon a Muslim nation.

Those are the dots. No matter how you choose to draw the lines, the picture tells us we are indeed, living in serious times.
