THE AFTERMATH
Guy de Maupassant ends his great novel “Une Vie” with the statement “Life is never as good or as bad as one thinks.” Conservatives should understand that in politics, things are rarely as good or as bad as one thinks in the aftermath of an election.
Hat tip Paul MirengoffDEMOCRACY’S FATE
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.”
― Alexis de Tocqueville

HAVE A HAPPY DECORATION DAY

Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the fallen Union soldiers of the Civil War. (Southern ladies organizations and southern schoolchildren had decorated Confederate graves in Richmond and other cities during the Civil War, but each region had its own date. By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars.
Let John Wayne tell you the story of the origin of the bugle tune TAPS.
OBAMA’S BIGGEST LIE YET
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Xp0-s35aRwM
Obama is making the claim that he is the one who is the fiscally responsible president. He says it’s the Republicans who are the wild spenders and creating huge deficits that he is cleaning the mess up. He must be operating on the theory that if the people aren’t believing the lies you have been telling it must be because the lies weren’t big enough.
Watch the video; listen to the reaction of the crowd. The immediate thought is they are a bunch of useful idiots. But they are not as much idiots as they are true believers. Faith is immune to facts. Here are some of the facts.
Obama’s budget proposals to Congress have been so irresponsible that not a single member of the House or the Senate voted for them. And then there is the deficit record. The numbers at the left are millions (2012 is estimated).
The deficit figure for Obama’s first year (2009) would have been even higher had it not been for the fact that the TARP loans made in 2008 were paid back, reducing the deficit in 2009.

ROMNEY AND THE KKK CONNECTION
CNN host Don Lemon wants to plant the idea in your mind that Mitt Romney’s belief that marriage is a union between a man and a woman is somehow equivalent to George Wallace’s stance that blacks should remain segregated forever. Demonizing doesn’t get much more despicable than that. Fortunately, it’s equally stupid. When a black gay television host takes a religious belief held by 67% of the American people and calls it racist, the backlash will be far greater than any impact CNN or its host had hoped to make.
Few people today even know who George Wallace was. No, he was not a news reporter. He was elected Governor of Alabama in 1962 in a landslide on the promise to his constituents that he would fight to maintain segregation of blacks in America forever. And he meant it. He is also famous for standing in the doorway to an auditorium at the University of Alabama in a showdown with the federal government. He stood in the doorway in order to block the entrance of two students because they were black. George Wallace was, of course, a Democrat.
Now click this link and watch the CNN video. It is very brief.
This is the type of journalism we are up against today. One thing we have going for us is that the Left has not learned yet that they no longer have the only voice. For years there was never a need to defend whatever they said. As a result they set themselves up for easy ridicule and exposure of the nonsense and demagoguery they preach.
There is no KKK connection and the people know it.

MAY WE HAVE PERMISSION TO DEFEND OURSELVES – PLEASE?
Leon Panetta, our Secretary of Defense insists we need approval from a consortium of foreign nations or we have no legal basis for military action. Me thinks poor Leon is trapped between supporting his boss and common sense.

A poll taken by Arianna Huffington’s Pollster.com found 60% of U.S. Army officers identify themselves as Republicans, only 18% as Democrats. There is no mystery about that.

THE DEVIL YOU KNOW
Far better to go with the devil you know than with the devil you don’t. Vladimir Putin is the devil we know. He is a known entity, a worthy adversary and even somewhat predictable. America should cheer his victory; it could have been much worse. The second place candidate, Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov, is a devoted follower of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. He is a man of great personal ambition and a man who, to this day, holds Lenin and Stalin in great esteem as his heroes.
Joseph Stalin is credited with the murder of 20,000,000 Russian people. He left the living so impoverished they had to be fenced in to prevent them from leaving their homeland. Putin rightly feared that if his opponent Zyuganov ever came to power he would emulate the policies and methods of his heroes with the same horrible results. Vladimir Putin didn’t cry for joy because he won. KGB directors aren’t given to that. He cried tears of relief because Zyuganov lost, tears on behalf of the Russian people.
Make no mistake; Putin is no friend of America. But as enemies go, he should be the enemy of choice.
