OCCUPY LA, IT GETS WORSE

When the Tea Party rose on the scene it was no mystery who they were and what they were all about.  Oh, of course there were some who didn’t have a clue.  They were the people about whom we’ve been saying for years “they just don’t get it” and they don’t.  Now, the shoe is on the other foot.  Who are all these people who call themselves Occupiers?  I just don’t get it.

Gradually we are finding out.  At least a few of them are hard line Marxists; at least some of the organizers are.  Los Angeles can be added to Atlanta in the come-the-revolution category.  Here are the videos.  Judge for yourself.

Occupy LA

In this video a young women is leading the group and calling out :”Where’s our bailouts”? Apparently she’s one of the disappointed ones who still have to make their own mortgage payments.  Note the lingo as she speaks; she rails on about infrastructure, healthcare and corporate greed.  “Corporate fat cats have to go”.  Where have you heard that before?  It’s straight out of Obama’s book.  And it’s not just some words he throws out occasionally; it’s a drumbeat he plays in speech after speech.

“Bloody violence will be necessary and it is coming to achieve our goals, yes a revolution”.  Those may not be the exact words but they are the sum and substance of what the speaker said.  Barack Obama may have no direct connection whatever to the Occupy people, but he held out the welcome sign, opened the door and is holding it for them.  He has given them the words to say and pointed out the enemy he wants them to attack.  Community organizer extraordinaire.  Saul Alinsky must be smiling in his grave.

There have been many claims made recently that Obama is competing with Jimmy Carter for the title of worst president ever.  In reality, there is no competition.  Carter just did a lousy job but he was an American president, whereas Barack Hussein Obama’s administration is, as Pamela Geller declares in her book, A Post American Presidency.

More OCCUPY posts to come.  In the meantime, get a copy of Geller’s book.

THE HIDDEN GOP DEBATE

It was the most significant primary debate thus far and may prove to be the deciding debate of the GOP primary campaign.  At least it had that potential had it not been hidden under the basket of a television channel many people can’t receive.  Here’s our list of winners, losers and humorists.

Winner — Mitt Romney
Romney came across more presidential than ever.  There is a refreshing contrast between this man with class and grace and the one now in the White House who has a habit of putting his feet on our furniture in our House.

Second place – Herman Cain
Cain did very well in the debate, but Cain has made one big mistake.  It’s his 999 tax plan.  He makes a good argument for it but it will never fly with the voters.  The fact that it introduces a brand new tax, a federal 9% sales tax is something only a Democrat could love.

Loser – Rick Perry
Perry wasn’t given much air time and when he did speak his responses were weak.

Best humor – Jon Huntsman
Huntsman, (he’s someone from Utah, I think), said he thought Cain’s 9.99 was a pizza price.  It was said and taken in good fun.  At least now Huntsman has name recognition.

Special mention – Michelle Bachman
Bachman gave a superb performance, but it’s too late.  She also gets second place for for humor with her follow up on Huntsman’s 999 poke with her observation that 999 stood on it’s head becomes 666 and the devil is in the details when it comes to Cain’s plan.

Hardest hitting — Newt Gingrich
Gingrich really socked it to them, Washington that is.  There should be a place for him in the government.  It just won’t be as president.

Also ran – Ron Paul
Paul is an anti guy.  He was a bit out of his water by virtue of the rules of the debate restricting the subject matter to the economy and the debt.  He did manage to lay a good and proper lambasting on the Federal Reserve.

Worst of the night – Rick Santorum
Santorum was way below his usual self.  Very disappointing.

Charley Rose of PBS moderated the event.  The format was very different.  No podiums, the candidates all sat at a big round “kitchen table”.  For the last half hour the candidates were not questioned by the moderator.  Instead, they were assigned the task of rebutting each other directly.  The idea worked very well; look for more kitchen tables to come.

OCCUPY ATLANTA Part II

We have our answer to the question of whether or not Occupy Atlanta is a Marxist movement.  Here is second video from the same event where John Lewis was turned away. This is the essence of what the facilitator tells the demonstrators.

We say to those of you who are with us, you may disagree with us and you may leave us.  But you should know that if you leave us you will be joining those who want to kill us.  Remember when the battle comes, you will be on the other side.

Then quoting verbatim:

“I’ll say one more thing, as a Marxist student what I am saying here is not out of my own head.  It is out of the history of the revolutionary movement international”.

For some reason the video would not embed. To play it click on this link.

Now the question becomes, is Occupy Wall Street a Marxist operation like Atlanta?  At this point, it appears they are not.  The Atlanta operation is frightening but less dangerous than it appears.  Their methods are too extreme to gain a wide following.

STEVE JOBS, TRUE AMERICAN HERO, MAY HE FOREVER REST IN PEACE

Steven Paul Jobs 1955 - 2011

We have lost a true American hero.  Steve Jobs has passed away quietly in his sleep.  He combined art with technology and gave the world a computer its users love.  Now that is an accomplishment!  Steve Jobs was also a rarity in that he was a corporate CEO who was universally admired by all.

Well done, Mr. Jobs.

WHAT FREE MARKETS? NOT HERE.

When Sen. Dick Durbin stood up in the Senate chamber and told the American public not to do business with a bank he didn’t like, he threatened the free market system.  When the President of the United States confirmed and added to the senator’s condemnation, the free market system ceased to exist.

Free is free.  Half free is not free.  What we have is coercive capitalism, a form of fascism where private ownership of the means of production of goods and services is allowed, but where management is not free to follow the dictates of the market.  This, along with crony capitalism has been described by some as the new face of socialism in America.

John Hinderaker at Power Line has written an excellent piece that begins “Nice Bank You Have Here…, a shame if anything should happen to it… The Democrats took gangster government to a new level today…”  It’s an excellent post and falls into the category of required reading.  Don’t miss it.

Socialist leaders have long realized the challenge of establishing the Marxist form of socialism in a democracy like the United States is an insurmountable one.  A strong and prosperous middle class would never willingly accept a government that would appropriate ownership of private enterprise.  The alternatives are to employ force with a violent revolution (a very bad choice) or to allow private ownership but control it.

Control comes in many forms.  Durbin-Obama coercion is just one of them.  Other means of control include appointing czars to oversee various industries, misuse of executive orders, outright flaunting of established law and the passing of bills that are vague, thereby leaving the specifics to be set by the whims of the bureaucracy as dictated from above.  Go along get along becomes a near necessity.  Those who do more than go along, get along even better.  From Solyndra to GE, this is the new face of socialism in America.

WALL STREET, BEDLAM on the BRIDGE

Wall Street Days of Rage has mushroomed into Occupy Wall Street.  Today it’s not enough just to demonstrate, you must also give the event a name.  And don’t forget to bring the fun stuff.  After all, it’s more about the Coors than it is about the Cause.

One wonders how many of the Occupy Wall Street crowd took the day off from work to occupy the bridge. Work?  Did I just hear someone laugh?  How much would you bet on the chance that their unemployment rate is a hefty multiple of the rate for Tea Party demonstrators?  Work is about contribution; the motto here is distribution not contribution.  And what was the point of shutting down the Brooklyn Bridge?  One demonstrator said she thought they were welcomed by the police.

What brought the Wall Streeters out?  And why now?  Santelli’s Rant inspired the Tea Party.  It’s Obama’s Rant that inspired the Wall Street attack.  Santelli’s outburst was serendipitous, a one time event.  Obama’s rants, on the other hand, are well planned out and repeated again and again in prepared speeches.

Saul Alinsky’s prime rule for radicals is strategy number thirteen, “Pick a target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it”.  The President chose a perennial favorite for a target, Wall Street.  He freezes it by staying on point, hammering away, hammering away.  He personalizes it with “fat cat” and “corporate jet” remarks and polarizes it with a constant stream of agitation from the presidential bully pulpit.  It’s one thing he does very well.

As an agitator, the man is a genius.  As a president, he is a disgrace.

Quote of the day
”The truth is we have too few jobs today because government stands in the way.  If I’m an employer, why would I want to hire someone when Congress and the Labor Department have so many rules that I might not be able to fire that person if he can’t do the job?  Why would I take a risk on an investment when still-to-be-written rules about Obamacare, financial regulation and the environment could turn my good idea into a losing venture?”  John Stossel

From the You-Can’t-Make-This-Stuff-Up Department
The State of Oregon was a five million dollar gold star by the Obama administration for putting more people on the Food Stamp program.  This is not to cover the cost, mind you; it’s a cash bonus for performance.  What’s next, a ten million dollar reward to New York if they increase the crime rate?

Grease
The skids are being Greeced and the European Union will slip by without breaking up – this time.  That’s our opinion, but it’s a squeaker.  It certainly wasn’t conservative policies of spending within your means or rule of law that got the European nations into their mess.  But it’s conservative policies that will get the public blame.  The left will see to that.  Sarkozy of France and Merkel of Germany are in big trouble with the voters already and the final deal is yet to be signed.

SUPREME COURT HEARINGS on OBAMACARE and the ARIZONA BORDER

Two highly significant issues are being prepared for presentation before the Supreme Court.  One is the United States Government vs. the State of Arizona.  The argument put forth by the Obama administration is that the federal government is given exclusive power to regulate immigration.  The question then is what power does a state have to protect its own people when the federal government imperils the states citizens by failing to enforce its own laws.

The second significant item is the constitutionality of Obamacare.  No case has actually been filed as yet but one is fully expected.  At one count, 38 states had joined or were considering joining in a suit to argue the health care plan is unconstitutional.  The issue here is the “individual mandate”.  The plan requires everyone to carry insurance or pay money to the government for failure to do so.  The crux of the argument lies in the characterization of that money.  Is it a tax or a penalty?

If it is a tax, Obamacare is more likely to be found constitutional under the clause that gives the federal government to levy tax for the national welfare of the people.  However, if it is a penalty, Obamacare is more likely to be found unconstitutional under the interstate commerce provisions which give Congress the power to regulate, but not to mandate interstate commerce.

The states will argue that the money is a penalty.  The Obama administration will argue it is a tax.  It would be interesting if President Obama were to be called to testify about his assertions to the American people that his plan would actually save money and therefore no new taxes would be required to pay for it.  That won’t happen, of course.

RANDOM THOTS on WARREN BUFFETT and PALESTINIAN SUPPORTERS

Warren Buffett
Warren Buffett’s salary is $524,000.  That would put him squarely in the 35% tax bracket; however he chooses not to pay it.  Instead he peals off some of his Berkshire Hathaway stock and gives it to his Buffet Foundation.  The market value of the shares qualifies as a charitable contribution which he can deduct from his taxable income.

The maximum deduction he can take in any one year is 30% but that’s not 30% of his salary; it’s 30% of his adjusted gross income.  We don’t know what that is because he won’t release his tax returns.  So we don’t know how much of his income he protects from being taxed by the money he gives to his foundation.

What he is doing may not be all that bad but we wish he would be up front about it.  By giving directly to charitable causes through his foundation, Buffet is avoiding the middle man, the U.S government.  There is much abuse in the foundation world but there is no indication of it in the Buffett Foundation.  He, not the government, decides where the money goes, what to support and what not to support.  The bureaucratic slippage is less and, presumably, none of the money is lost to corruption.

By the way, Mr. Buffett did not say he paid less tax than his secretary, as we often see quoted.  What he said was he pays at a lower rate.  His secretary could pay at a lower rate too, if she gave 30% of her income to charity.

The Palestinian cause
Israel gives Palestinians a voice in the Israeli government.
Not one single Arab nation gives one single Jew a voice in their government.

Thousands of suicide bombers have killed thousands of Jews.  They blow people to bits in public markets, schools and on buses.  In some cases they target children intentionally.
Have you ever heard of as much as one Jewish suicide bomber killing one Palestinian?

If the Arabs laid down their arms, there would be peace.
If Israel laid down its arms, there would be no Israel.

Palestinians teach their children that mass murder, even of non Jews, is an honorable act provided that some Jews are included in the intended death toll.

–0O0–

It is hard to conceive how an honorable person can lend support to such atrocities, regardless of the cause.  And please don’t tell me you support the cause but not the tactics.  That’s not possible.  Lending support to the cause while theses tactics are being employed encourages continuation of the tactics.

Palestinian supporters, you have blood on your hands.

GALLUP – RECORD 81% DISSATISFIED WITH CURRENT GOVERNMENT

Results of a Gallup poll released today show that a “record-high 81% of Americans are dissatisfied with the way the country is being governed…”.

What can we infer from that?  First, a large number of people who voted for Obama are sorely disappointed.  That’s the price they paid, the price we all paid, for their not doing their homework.  Admittedly, it was a task that required some self study, not one easily resolved by watching the evening news and reading an occasional newspaper.  However, when a candidate for President of the United States launches his political career from the home of a virulent unrepentant anti-American terrorist and takes as his beloved mentor and spiritual leader a black liberation theologist like Jeremiah Wright, doesn’t that call for doing some homework before voting for him?

Secondly, can we infer that the President has little chance of winning a second term?  No we cannot.  We might if the election were to be this November rather than the next.  A year and a month are like an eternity in politics.  Community organizers know how to work up a crowd and this community organizer was very good at his job.  His tools are class warfare, stoking envy, channeling rage, appealing to liberal guilt and of course, race.  His techniques are covered in Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals.

That is a formidable arsenal.  Barack Obama wants what he sincerely thinks is best for his own people and for his vision of a better America.  He is a deeply dedicated man.  The President is a powerful fundraiser and a strong campaigner.  Never discount such a person.
