OBAMA’S BRAND OF SOCIALISM

The problem with pure (Marxist) Socialism is it impoverishes the people. The problem with European Socialism is it is not sustainable. The problem with Capitalism is it rewards people according to their capability, which is to say unequally. An additional problem with Barack Hussein Obama’s socialism is it is based on rage not on benevolence.

For a prime example of pure socialist government we need look no further than Russia following the 1917 Revolution. The Revolution was born of rage and led by a man obsessed with power. The people were impoverished before Lenin came to power and remained impoverished for nearly 200 years after. Lenin didn’t debate his political adversaries; he simply killed or imprisoned them. Marxist socialism is only sustainable by tyranny. More recently, consider the need for the Berlin Wall and the desperation of the Cuban boat people.

Socialism can be born of intended benevolence as well as rage. Fidel Castro’s Cuba is a good example. After more than 50 years of Socialism that began with benevolent intent, only Michael Moore and Rev. Wright believe the Cuban people are better off in Cuba than the American people are in America. Pure Socialism, which usually goes by the name Communism, has no private sector to generate wealth and thus it impoverishes the people from the outset.

On the other hand, it can be argued that Western European Socialism which allows for a private sector provides greater benevolence to the people for a time, but only while the money lasts. Then what? The world is about to find out, if not in this European crisis then in the next one.

And what of Obama’s brand of Socialism? It doesn’t matter because he is not going to be re-elected. If we are wrong, tyranny won’t be very far behind. In fact, soft tyranny has already started; ask the former GM dealers who didn’t support Obama.

ANOTHER ENERGY FLOP

The troubled battery maker won a private meeting and phone call with Obama, a trade mission slot and $250 million in stimulus money before it went bankrupt this week.

A LOOK BACK AT OBAMA’S FIRST 18 MONTHS

Have you heard the one about the mosquito who starved to death in a nudist camp?  There were so many opportunities she couldn’t decide where to start.

That’s my problem.  There are so many things to remind people about Barack Obama that I can’t decide where to start.  And like the life of a mosquito, the useful life of an Obama bash is short.  I have no interest in condemning the man; I just want to save my country.

Barack Obama had been in office a year and a half when I published the post repeated below.

SHOULD WE WISH OBAMA TO SUCCEED?

Many are the times I have dismissed his presumptions only to see with the passage of time his vision was correct.

To wish Obama continued success is to wish for more of what he already has done. He has subjugated the rule of law to the will of his own. He has dictated private property be diverted from the hands of its rightful owners to be given to labor unions having no legal claim on the assets. We have seen the creation of powerful czars who report to no one but the president. We have seen limits set on executive incomes in private industry at the whim of Obama.

We have seen Senators brazenly bribed to change their votes in order to enact legislation the American people clearly and fervently made known they did not want. We have seen the will of the majority ignored in wanton disregard for the spirit of democracy. We have seen expansion of government control over the care of our health and the advent of socialized medicine forced upon us.

We are watching a president inherit a recession then repeat the methods of Franklin Roosevelt who inherited a recession and turned it into a depression.

We have elected a president who has alienated our allies, Great Britain, Israel and Poland and chosen to appease our adversaries, Russia and Iran. We have chosen as our protector and Commander in Chief, a man who lays down our strongest arms in a vow not to employ our ultimate defense even in response to a nuclear attack.

We are led by a president and supported by an Attorney General who will not acknowledge the existence of Islamic terrorism, a president who appoints as a White House spokesperson a woman who names a genocidal dictator as one of the two philosophers she most admires, a president who nominates for a deputy position in the Office of Safe & Drug Free Schools, an activist for public school teaching of homosexual activity among young boys.

We have elected a president who travels abroad bowing and apologizing to nations for the role America has played in the world. We have entrusted our States now United to a man who promised  healing, but instead, waters the seeds of unrest, who upon seeing conflict between states, acts not to quell the dispute but to join in the fight.

To wish Obama to succeed is to wish for more of what we have seen thus far and more of what Obama still dreams, – visions of card check for unions, cap and trade for industry, reparations for minorities, single payer health care for us all and the dimming of our light that has shined so long and so bright proclaiming and defending freedom for all.

There are many more, but these will get you started.

LET’S CALL IT A DRAW

President Obama needed a clear win to stem the slide.  He didn’t get it.  As in the Biden-Ryan debate, the Republican came across as a gentleman, the Democrat as more articulate and assertive.  It is difficult to judge the net effect on the election without knowing how well informed the undecided are.  Polls show unwavering support for each candidate at around the 47% level.  It is the relatively small group of undecided voters who will determine who the next president will be.

Right out of the box Obama painted his administration as one that gave strong support to the increased use of coal, the pipeline to Canada and made expansion of exploration and drilling for domestic oil and gas a priority.  Every one of those assertions is exactly the opposite of the truth.  But how many of the undecided viewers know that?  Obama also said that what we need is efficient energy.  How many undecided voters know that wind and solar are the least efficient and that’s why they need government subsidies to exist?  How many know the Solyndra story, not just the headlines but the full story?

Two down, one to go.  If the third is anywhere close to a draw, Obama’s record on the economy will cost him the election as well it should.

THE NEW YORK TIMES WATCH

ONCE A GREAT NEWSPAPER

Election prospects have recently turned sharply, although not decidedly, against the Democrat. This comes at a critical point in the 2012 election and at a very critical point in the history of our country. At a time like this we look to the nation’s newspaper of record, the paper whose motto is “All The News That’s Fit To Print” to see what they have to report at this critical hour.
The lead headline above the fold is “In a Surprise Move, Pandit Steps Down as Citigroup Chief.” Now I know it is called the New York Times and Citigroup’s headquarters are in New York City but this is a national, even international paper. It is not the local daily nor is it a financial reporter. There is no good news for Obama today so the editors can find nothing more newsworthy than a story about a business leader who lost his job. Heave a sigh and look further for something of world class importance.
The Online issue prominently features a video, also “above the fold.” That must be about the presidential race, no? No. It is about a Congressional race in Iowa. I think I will try the National Enquirer. Do you know if they have an Online edition?

ROMNEY AND HIS TAXES

The tax code is complicated; that makes it easy to spin.  The context of taxation is extensive and not in the knowledge base of most people.  Sometimes it seems to make no sense at all. For instance, if you buy a piece of improved property and it skyrockets in value, the IRS allows and expects you to report every year that it is going down in value.  It’s called “depreciation” and it reduces your tax bill.

Democrats are trying to make the case that Romney is heartless and greedy.  First by declaring that Romney paid no taxes at all, which was not only a falsehood but an insult to common sense, and now on the grounds that 14% is less than a fair share.  The math is correct but it doesn’t make the case.

A heartless man does not give extensively to charity as Romney has done.  A greedy man does not pay more taxes than necessary by intentionally omitting an allowed tax deduction, as Romney did. The bottom line is thru charity and taxes he kept 42% of his income and 58% went for the benefit of society.  This math is also correct and it disproves the case the opposition is trying to make.  Call it spin if you wish, like the 14%.  The math and the reasoning are here.

The bottom line is Romney has been more generous than either Obama or Biden who is particularly famous for his lack of charitable giving.  Romney also seems to prefer giving to society thru charity rather than thru the government.

One final thought.  Greed and envy are close companions.  Waging class warfare is an outlet for envy.  Is waging class warfare not a form of greed also?

INTERESTING PIE CHARTS

Women are different from men.  We can all agree on that.  They look different, most of them.  They act differently and they think differently.  These pie charts published by USA TODAY illustrate that women vote differently as well.

Also notable in the charts is the difference between the methods of the two leading pollsters, Gallup and Rasmussen.  Gallup polls all registered voters; Rasmussen polls only those more likely to vote.  The difference is quite clear in the swing states, the two upper charts at the upper left.

PROVERBS

PROVERBS 29:9
“If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet.”

Thus reads the English Standard translation of the Bible, Proverbs chapter 29 verse 9.  There are many translations of the Bible into English and you can read most or all of them for this verse here.  The words are different but the concept is the same  –  when a wise man debates a fool, the fool only rages and laughs at the wise man and there can be no resolution.
My mother had her own way of expressing it, “There is no sense in arguing with a drunk.”

PROVERBS 23:9
“Do not speak to a fool, for he will scorn the wisdom of your words.”

PROVERBS 29:8
“Mockers stir up a city, but wise men turn away anger”

PROVERBS 29:10
“Bloodthirsty men hate a man of integrity and seek to kill the upright.”

Perhaps you should read the whole chapter before election day.

THE RYAN – BIDEN DEBATE AND SOME THOTS ABOUT LIARS WHO CALL OTHERS LIARS

I want my money back.  The show wasn’t as entertaining as it was expected to be.  Biden was obnoxious but otherwise he did quite well.  Each agenda declared their candidate won.  Arguably Biden did a better job with his answers; clearly his “friend” Paul Ryan came across as more likeable.  Ryan also did a better job of establishing his honesty, not once did he lie by saying Biden was his friend.

Speaking of lies, Joe Biden said of the Libyan Consulate attack “We weren’t told they wanted more security; we did not know they wanted more security there.”  That was a bald face lie.

Biden said President Obama has “gone out and repaired our alliances so that the rest of the world follows us again.”  It’s far from the truth slo Joe may actually believe it so this one falls somewhere between a lie and oblivious ignorance.  But no benefit of the doubt can be given on the next statement that Romney and Biden, “bet against America all the time.”  Biden combined a lie with a smear with that one.

Biden said the administration passed a “middle class tax cut.”  That was another lie.  Biden said Sarah Palin spoke about “death panels” in their Vice Presidential debate in 2008.  No such statement by Palin is in the transcript.  Biden lied again.  Biden said no one is looking to do things through the UN.  But the truth is the UN plays an important role in the Obama administration’s foreign policy.

All politicians play loose with the facts at times.  We accept that within bounds.  It is up to us to intelligently separate the wheat from the chaff.   It bothers us to label anyone a liar.  But when liars lie and lie and lie, then lie again by accusing you for being the liar, at some point courtesy begins to look like guilt.  It is time to call the liars liars.  Joe Biden and Barack Obama are liars.

WHY BIDEN WILL DO VERY WELL TONIGHT

There are several reasons why Biden should do well and won’t fall on his face like his boss did in the first debate?  First of all, the elevation is only 980 feet.  Anyone who has been to Denver or watches MSNBC knows how difficult it is to talk at that altitude.

Secondly, not being able to use a teleprompter has never hampered Biden from making the very memorable statements that are his hallmark.  Furthermore, he didn’t have John Kerry to let him down and Jim Lehrer will not moderate the debate.   Finally, Paul Ryan is expected to be Paul Ryan, quite different than Romney who wasn’t himself in the debate.  In other words, none of the factors that were stacked against Obama will affect the Vice President.  Well there may be one.  The moderator may still be sitting lower than the candidates making it difficult for Obama not to face his opponent when speaking.

Tonight’s debate will be the most watched Vice Presidential debate in history.  Biden will surely make every effort to put one of his best feet forward because it is his opportunity to establish bona fides for a run for President should Obama decide to step down in 2016.  Mathematics are boring, Biden is entertaining.  For all these reasons, if I were asked to predict the winner, I would say the answer to that is a no-brainer.
