THE OBAMA TAX CUTS

Obama tax cuts? …Yessir, Obama tax cuts. …Really? …Yup. He says cutting tax rates could raise tax revenues and help reduce the national debt. …You’re kidding, aren’t you? No Democrat ever said that. …Obama did. It’s in the New York Times. It has to be true.

WASHINGTON — President Obama is considering whether to push early next year for an overhaul of the income tax code to lower rates and raise revenues in what would be his first major effort to begin addressing the long-term growth of the national debt.

One has to wonder what this heresy is all about. Triangulation is one thing, total about face is quite another. It’s in the Democratic Bible  “Thou shall raise taxes lest the abomination of debt fall upon thee.” Perhaps the President’s fingers were crossed when he said it.

Of course, at this point it is not even a proposal, it’s just a proposal of a proposal. A flag, as they say, run up the pole to see if anyone salutes. But it’s a historical moment nonetheless.

WOW! WHAT A WACKY WICKI DAY!

Revenge of Wikileak Fans

Master Card and VISA disabled, PAY PAL and Amazon under attack. Palin and the Swedish government’s websites disabled. All of this was accomplished today by a cyber army of hackers in support of Assange and his Wikileaks.

In Berkeley California, the City Council prepared a resolution for a Tuesday vote to honor the soldier who is believed to have supplied Assange with access to the data being released. Only in Berkeley!

In Moscow the Kremlin urges the nomination of Julian Assange for the Nobel Peace Prize. It seems it is not only in Berkeley after all.

Automatic “doomsday release” is impossible to stop, claims its founder. The information will flow faster than the encryption code could possibly be broken.

Lines are in the process of being drawn. The hard Left is coming out in support of Assange. The Wikileak releases are enormously embarrassing to the United States. But the supporters are not focusing their attacks on the Right, other than Sarah Palin. Sweden and Amazon cannot be called Right Wing targets. Sen. Lieberman has come out with a strong condemnation few other Democrats (we know, Lieberman is technically not a Democrat) have expressed strong opinions.

And where is Obama? Much of the Press is saying he seems not to be taking the issue very seriously. But then, he has never been very concerned about embarrassing America, has he?

BARACK BOMBS AGAIN, THIS TIME HE LOSES ONE TO DEMOCRATS

Bush vindicated on Gitmo policy

The current Democratic Congress has refused to provide funding for the transfer of detainees and closing of the prison. Just as we said in Obama’s Press Conference II, Democratic politicians are not as dumb as they sound. With one out of four released detainees returning to terrorism, the risk of an event that would bounce back on Democrats was just too great.

No funding means no closing. It also means none of the detainees will be brought into the States.

OBAMA’S PRESS CONFERENCE II

Democratic politicians are not as stupid as they sound. Well, most of them aren’t. The Democrats know that raising taxes in the midst of a recession is economic suicide. And as close as we are to 2012 it would be political suicide as well. The dilemma they faced all year long was how to extend the Bush tax rates and blame it on Republicans with Democrats in control of the House, the Senate and the Presidency.

Obama tried. Obama failed. He said [Failing to make the deal] “in terms of macroeconomics, the overall health of the economy, that would have been a damaging thing.” The essence of his televised message was that he did the right thing for the American people and he did it because he was forced into it by the Republicans. His monologue was full of condemnation, long on banality and short on substance. He spoke repeatedly of fights, battles and debates, the familiar language of a community organizer.

But he didn’t blame George Bush. Perhaps he saw this poll.

OBAMA’S PRESS CONFERENCE

CNBC Poll: – Extend Bush Tax Cuts, Say Americans Worried About Economy

Obama: – “I convinced the American people. I had no problem with that. It was just the Republicans I couldn’t convince.”

Someone should tell the President four things he appears not to know:
1 He did not convince the American people.
2 Republicans are Americans too, the same as Democrats.
3 Democrats control the Senate, not republicans.

The President also said he had no choice but to accept the deal because he didn’t have 60 votes in the Senate. Yo, Barack! You only needed 51.

And can you explain some things for us, please? You spoke of “tens of millions” who needed that unemployment extension. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported 15.1 million total unemployed in November. How did you get “tens of millions” eligible for extensions out of 15 million total unemployed?

You also said this deal would help the millions of hard working American families with low paying jobs that are struggling to meet the bills. We thought the unemployment benefit extension was for people who were out of work.

But you really scared me when you said American people were being held hostage by some Republicans. I called 911 and the people there didn’t know anything about it. I hope you were kidding because I was planning to go home for Christmas.

NORTH KOREA, PALIN AND OUR POLICY

It appears Kim Jong Il wants another reward from the United States for stopping an aggression he started. Obama says we should talk. Ramirez captures the spirit of  U.S. policy. If they bomb us, we will not stand by idle. We will prepare some tea and insist on a chat with them about it.

Sarah Palin was expressing some better ideas on the Glenn Beck Show when she referred to “our North Korean ally”. It was an obvious slip of the lip, immediately corrected. When Barack Obama makes such a gaffe, and there have been many, they go largely unreported. Not so, with Palin of course. Here’s Sarah’s humorous response:

A Thanksgiving Message to All 57 States
by Sarah Palin on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at 5:46pm

My fellow Americans in all 57 states, the time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate – from the FBI’s 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. And let’s face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don’t know what the term is in Austrian for that…

The gibberish above is based, of course, on a series of misstatements and verbal gaffes made by Barack Obama. Links are included to confirm the series of misstatements.

REPUBLICANS ROARED and the MARKET SOARED

What must Obama be thinking? …, uh lousy day, one stinkin day! Bernanke did me in. waited til after th ‘lection, Ida won, #2&$#% it! (People don’t think in regular words).

BEN BERNANKE

But I wonder…hmm. It was Bernanke’s move alright, but the background in which it occurred was the resounding defeat of the Democratic party. A thousand uncertainties were removed. The election results leave no doubt whatsoever that the Obama agenda has been capped. The free market system is very flexible. It can accommodate a wide set of rules, but the one thing that stops it cold is when the game has an unknown set of rules.

Now we are sure Cap and Trade is dead. Card Check is too. The “1099 rule” will be withdrawn. Obamacare will, at a minimum, be modified to something less onerous for business. Now you can estimate the cost of adding an employee where you couldn’t do that before. Maxine Waters’ comment that “Socialism is the goal” rings hollow now. Her threat is now but a joke.

Bernanke’s step was risky and bold. It could take the economy either way. It all but assures Carteresque stagflation if businesses don’t respond. It offers good promise if they do. The market would not react to such a step as it did if it were a step into a darkness willed with unknowns. No Barack, it was not the election that you lost by a day, it was the election that saved the stock market by a day, or maybe it was two.

BUSH AND OBAMA PRESS CONFERENCES

When President George Dubya Bush held a Press Conference, at the conclusion of his prepared remarks he would look up into a sea of raised and waving reporter’s hands. Each journalist was vying for the opportunity to ask a question. Now watch Obama.

Today, as he was finishing his post-election remarks he reached into his pocket, pulled out a card or paper, placed it on the lectern, and without looking up named a reporter to ask the first question. Those are the facts. Here is the speculation.

In as much as he never looked up, obviously, the President knew who he was going to ask. It begs some questions. If the questioner was pre-selected, why? How did the reporter come to be the one selected? Did Obama know the question in advance?

The honored reporter asked a hard question and presented it smoothly. It was a question that a President in Obama’s shoes would surely want the opportunity to quickly put to rest. The reporter asked if the mid-term election was a referendum on Obama’s presidency. Obama responded in the negative of course, and there were no more questions on that issue. When he concluded there was no show of raised hands. Obama simply named the next journalist from whom he would take a question. And so it went.

THE TAJ MAHAL OBAMAGANZA

THIS ONE

NOT THIS ONE

On November 6th, the election will be over and the Obamas with their extensive entourage will be off to the luxurious Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, India. Air Force One number one and Air Force One number two will both be on the trip. There must not be an Air Force One number three.

Forty taxpayer owned aircraft in all are being assigned to the trip. The entire 800 rooms in the hotel have been booked and the regular staff has been given leave. Apparently the Obamas are bringing their own cooks, hairdressers and teleprompters. Only two things are missing, the guest list and comprehensive press coverage.

One thing not missing, however, is chutzpah. Forgive me Barack; you probably don’t like that word. It’s Jewish. The English word is “audacity”. There I go again, you don’t like the English either. But audacity it is and audacity can be a good thing, I’ll grant you that.

And hey dude, have any of your fellow Democrats complained that turning a 30 minute speech into an expensive overseas extravaganza just before an election is not helping their cause? Or did I err again? Democrats are still your fellow travelers, are they not?

While we’re chatting I have another question. You told a Hispanic audience that those who fail to join you in whatever you support deserve to be punished. I listened to your comment but found it a bit unclear. Did you mean just Hispanic Americans or any American that fails to vote your way “must be punished”?

A word of advice, Barack. We pundits, left or right, can say things like that. It is our job to criticize, yours is to lead. We have little stature to lose. But it’s not befitting the head of a nation, any nation, to declare its citizens should be punished if they vote in a manner that displeases him. It makes a President look dictatorish, know what I mean?

OBAMA SAYS REPUBLICANS “GOTTA SIT IN BACK”

Getting Even

“We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.”  …Barack Obama from a Rhode Island speech as reported by the Associated Press, Oct 25, 2010

Obama has always had a knack for communicating with his inner constituency in subtle and sometimes not so subtle ways. It wasn’t necessary for him to add, in the back – of the bus – for a certain faction of his followers to smile and say, Right on brother! Right on! Stirring up grievances, old and new is a community organizers job.

“When those prominent in the status quo turn and label you an “agitator” they are completely correct, for that is, in one word, your function – to agitate to the point of conflict.”… Rules for Radicals, In the Beginning, The Process of Power * by Saul Alinsky

Barack Obama has not come to bring peace; he has come to bring change, total change, to transform America. He is sincere. He harbors resentment. He is determined. He is smart. He knows Americans love their country and the complete transformation he envisions cannot be achieved without some pain. The people need to be aroused, to denounce the status quo and to bring change by force because most of the population will not knowingly accept Obama’s transformation voluntarily.

“The organizer dedicated to changing the life of the people of a community must first rub raw the resentments of the community; fan the latent hostilities of many of the people to the point of overt expression (sic). He must search out controversy and issues, rather than avoid them, for unless there is controversy people are not concerned enough to act.” and “An organizer must stir up dissatisfaction and discontent”…Rules for Radicals, In the Beginning, The Process of Power * by Saul Alinsky.

Obama’s current frustration is because the Tea Party stole the first act. And the only community organizing required was Rick Santelli and his 30 second rant. After that it was grass roots from the heart all the way. Barack Obama is down but not out. Stay alert.

*Alinsky did not number the chapters of his book; so we had to identify the location of quotations by chapter name and sub-heading.
