MATTHEWS EXPRESSES HOPE THAT WEINER RIDES IT OUT

Chris Matthews said Weiner should stay on because “he still has a roll to play” for the American people.  On Matthews’ Hardball program there is less talk about condemnation and more talk on how Weiner should have dealt with the issue once the story first broke out.  To the folks at MSNBC the real shame is not Weiner’s actions. The real shame is that Democrats stand to lose a strong voice in Congress if Weiner loses his post.  Even Harry Reid didn’t stoop that low.

Reid said “I know Representative Weiner.  I wish I could defend him, but I can’t”.  Chalk one up on the good side for Harry.

Watch this video of Weiner defending himself on ABC. Please excuse the brief ad. Watch it all, then ask yourself what kind of person it would take to defend this man as fit to represent the American people.

BREITBART RESPONDS TO WEINER’S ADMISSION OF GUILT

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D NY) says he’s sorry.  Of course he is.  He was caught.

“I take full responsibility”, he said repeatedly.  He also said he would not resign.  He made no apologies for slandering Andrew Breitbart and he gave short shrift to the grief he brought on his wife.  To Anthony Weiner, “full responsibility” is just a phrase you must repeat in the hope it will save your job.

Watching the Congressman’s public confessional indeed was a sad sight to behold on many fronts.  First there is the obvious hurt caused to family and friends.  Then there is the embarrassment that must have been felt by his staff and by the people who voted for him.  And finally, here is a disturbing thought; Rep. Weiner was the Democratic Party’s hopeful to win the seat of Mayor of New York City, and the office of Mayor of NYC is an entry point leading to a presidential candidacy for your party.

It was easy to feel sorry for the man as he fought the tears in that press conference.  But we have seen how vicious this man actually is.  Save your sympathy.  Weiner doesn’t deserve one bit of it.

Here is a video of Andrew Breitbart’s appearance on CBS this morning, Tuesday June 7, 2011.

NETANYAHU PRAISES WHAT OBAMA DEPLORES – AMERICA

When Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke before a joint session of Congress he received numerous standing ovations.  This is what he had to say about America.  He opened his speech with:

Israel has no better friend than America.  And America has no better friend than Israel.  We stand together to defend democracy.  We stand together to advance peace.  We stand together to fight terrorism.  Congratulations America, Congratulations, Mr. President.  You got bin Laden.  Good riddance.

And he closed with these sincere remarks:

My friends, the momentous trials of the last century, and the unfolding events of this century, attest to the decisive role of the United States in advancing peace and defending freedom. Providence entrusted the United States to be the guardian of liberty. All peoples who cherish freedom owe a profound debt of gratitude to your great nation. Among the most grateful nations is my nation, the people of Israel, who have fought for their liberty and survival against impossible odds, in ancient and modern times alike.

I speak on behalf of the Jewish people and the Jewish state when I say to you, representatives of America, Thank you. Thank you for your unwavering support for Israel. Thank you for ensuring that the flame of freedom burns bright throughout the world. May God bless all of you. And may God forever bless the United States of America.

There was a time when America had presidents who appreciated their homeland like that. There was a time when our presidents knew America was a force for good in the world. That time will be back. We made a mistake. We were led astray. We elected a man most of us did not know. We are wiser now. When the leader of a foreign nation like Israel has not lost faith in the American people, by what measure should we?

Every nation has had its failings. A leader’s responsibility is to see those failings are not repeated; it is not his place to air them before the rest of the world. Caroline Glick had this to say about Obama in the Jerusalem Post:

Since he assumed office, Obama has been traveling the world apologizing for America’s world leadership. He has been lecturing the American people about the need to subordinate America’s national interests to global organizations like the United Nations that are controlled by dictatorships which despise [America].

Suddenly, here was an allied leader reminding them of why America is a great nation that leads the world by right, not by historical coincidence.

And Netanyahu showed real pride in his own people.

In an unstable Middle East, Israel is the one anchor of stability. In a region of shifting alliances, Israel is America’s unwavering ally. Israel has always been pro-American. Israel will always be pro-American.

My friends, you don’t need to do nation building in Israel. We’re already built. You don’t need to export democracy to Israel. We’ve already got it. You don’t need to send American troops to defend Israel. We defend ourselves.

The comparison between the two leaders is saddening. In fact it is painful.

VOTER FRAUD AND THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

“[V]oter fraud remains a significant component of the Democratic Party’s electoral strategy.”

Those bold words were written by John Hinderaker in a Power Line article titled Dayton Vetoes Voter ID Law.  It is a strong statement to make, but how else can you explain the consistent opposition to voter ID programs by Democrats, and only by Democrats, in state after state?

Indiana Democrats opposed to tighter voter identification requirements took the issue all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court where they lost in a 6 to 3 vote in April 2008.  The court rejected the argument that requiring reliable identification from voters would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots.

Deter the poor?  Voter ID cards are free.  In fact most people already have acceptable ID cards.  Here is a typical list of what is generally accepted. Any one will do.

The photo ID of any employee of any department of the federal government.

Any photo ID of any employee of any municipal board, authority or other entity of any state.

Any photo ID issued to non-employees by any municipality, any state or by the federal government.

A valid Driver’s License, even if expired.

A special Voter ID Card issued without charge by the voter registrar’s office.

This list happens to be from the State of Georgia.  But every bill proposed has included special provisions to meet the needs of the indigent and handicapped.  The only ones disenfranchised are your dog or cat or names taken from gravestones.  There simply is no honest reason to oppose the requirement of reliable identification in order to vote.

OBAMA GETS A GOOSE EGG

Not a single member of Harrry Reid’s Democratic Senate voted to introduce the President’s budget proposal into the procedure for debate. Not one, nada, zilch. Congressman Paul Ryan’s budget proposal, offered on behalf of the Republican Party, garnered forty votes. Score – Republicans 40,  Democrats 0.

The President put forth a budget proposal but his party did. The party hasn’t prepared a budget proposal although they are obligated by law to do so. On second thought, the Democratic Party has shown they are not obligated by law to do anything.

Voting against the Ryan plan, were all the Democrats and four Republicans that aren’t. Rand Paul also voted with those on the left side of the right, the RHINOs. It has been said that the spectrum from left to right is really a circle joined at the ends. It’s not true, of course, but sometimes you have to wonder.

Paul, Rand not Ryan, is showing signs of becoming the Denis Kucinich of the Republican Party – a nice guy with ideas the party likes but a little embarrassing at times. Perhaps I am being too tough on Paul, Rand that is, not Ron. I really liked his rant on liberal toilets and the leftist light bulbs.

FIFTY BUCKS A BULB

You want light? Hundred watters will set you back a cool fifty bucks come January first.

That’s when the government mandate goes into effect prohibiting the sale of anything other than those compact fluorescent types with a little bit of poison inside. The new bulbs will last 3 times as long and cost 22 times as much as the incandescent ones you are now using.

The good news is 75 watters will go on sale for 5 dollars less. So 45 dollars for 75 watts is 60 cents for a watt. That’s 20 percent more per watt, and for what?, for 25 less watts, that’s what.

Is this really necessary? What will they want to control next, toilet paper?

TUSCON PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHES CHILDREN CAPITALISM MUST BE DESTROYED

In the video, a woman at a public school board meeting reads excerpts from a book used to teach grade school children in the Tucson Ethnic Studies program.

The book teaches kids that the United States is an institutionally racist system filled with “bloodsucking capitalists” and Anglos who “rape Hispanic culture”.

“Hard drugs and drug culture is an invention of the gringo because he has no culture.”

“We have to destroy capitalism and we have to help 5/6 of the world to destroy capitalism in order to equal all peoples’ lives.

“The Declaration of Independence states that we the people have the right to revolution…the right to overrule the government…”

“Any country based on capitalism is based on greed…”

And that’s only the beginning. The book, used to teach children ages 11 to 14 has obscene language offensive enough for the school board member (who appears to be the Chairman) to chastise the woman for reading it aloud before the board. There is no indication, at least not on the video, that the board considers it inappropriate for the children however.

Hat tip to MoonbatTracker

These are the people of La Raza, the people to whom the Democratic Party panders for their votes. La Raza has but two ways to achieve their goal of re-conquest of the Southwest, bloody revolution or gradual advance through the Democratic Party. When La Raza’s numbers become sufficient, as they will if the indoctrination continues, either Democracy or some of the southern states will have to go.

ONE MORTGAGE CRISIS IS NOT ENOUGH. OBAMA’S DEPT OF JUSTICE IS SOWING THE SAME SEEDS FOR ANOTHER ONE.

The Obama administration didn’t allow the first mortgage crisis to go to waste. They took control of General Motors and got the Democratic Congress to give them 800 billion dollars to spend however the executive branch wished. It cost workers hundreds of thousands of jobs. It put the party most responsible for the crisis in charge of ending it.

The Community Reinvestment Act, ACORN and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, in consort with Fannie May and Freddie Mac, gave us the housing boom which led naturally to the subsequent bust. They did it by mandating that banks make an an absurdly high level of sub-prime loans. By the time Andrew Cuomo was Secy of H.U.D. under President Clinton, forty percent of mortgage loans were to people with poor credit. It was a house of cards that had to fall unless the rate of sub-prime lending were reduced. Incredibly, Secy. Cuomo insisted that sub-prime lending be increased and put the pressure on the banks to do so.

The same forces are at work to do exactly the same thing all over again.

Bloomberg Businessweek reports:

Community activists in St. Louis became concerned a couple of years ago that local banks weren’t offering credit to the city’s poor and African American residents. So they formed a group called the St. Louis Equal Housing and Community Reinvestment Alliance and began writing complaint letters to federal regulators.

That was an example of community organizers at work.

At the Justice Dept., a new 20-person unit dedicated to fair lending issues received a record number of discrimination referrals from regulators in 2010 and has dozens of open cases, according to a recent agency report. Potential penalties can reach into the millions of dollars. “We are using every tool in our arsenal to combat lending discrimination,” Thomas E. Perez, the assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Div., told a conference of community development advocates in Washington in April.

Make bad loans or pay fines. That’s the government at work.

Why would a politician want to repeat the very steps that led to the housing collapse and put so many people out on the street? There are only four possible reasons: stupidity, ignorance, seeking power or seeking opportunities for corruption.

KRAZY KRUGMAN (JUST KIDDING)

Paul Krugman never ceases to amaze. He acknowledges the economic mess we are in but seems to be unaware of who has been in control of the White House and the Congress in recent years. Here’s what he had to say yesterday about present conditions.

A few readers have asked what I make of recent economic indicators. The answer is, nothing good.

By my count we’ve had four adverse surprises lately: GDP, private-sector payrolls, service-sector survey, and new claims for unemployment insurance. Since there seem to be a fair number of Charlie Browns out there — people who keep expecting a housing recovery, even though Lucy keeps pulling away the football — I guess we should add weak housing numbers to the mix.

It looks like a sputter, not a crash, but it’s definitely not good.

Dear reader, you and I know the Democrats have controlled both the House and the Senate since January 2007. Even Krugman must know who has been in control of the Executive Branch for the last two plus years. With Democrats remaining in control of the Senate and the presidential specter of veto, Republicans have been unable to put any real plans into law in the 4 short months since they won the House. So Paul, how is it you see that it’s the Republicans who got us where we are when the Democrats have been driving the bus?

ALIEN IN THE WHITE HOUSE

The Random Thots truffle hound was sniffing among the moss and leaves and uncovered this profound piece of work by Dorothy Rabinowitz writing for the Wall St Journal nearly a year ago. We can only present edited excerpts in this post. We recommend you click the link at the end and read the whole article.

The Alien in the White House
There should have been nothing puzzling about [Obama] to anyone who has paid even modest critical attention to Mr. Obama’s pronouncements. For it was clear from the first that this president—single-minded, ever-visible, confident in his program for a reformed America saved from darkness by his arrival—was wanting in certain qualities citizens have until now taken for granted in their presidents. Namely, a tone and presence that said: This is the Americans’ leader, a man of them, for them, the nation’s voice and champion.

Those qualities to be expected in a president [are] a matter of identification with the nation and to all that binds its people together in pride and allegiance. These are feelings held deep in American hearts, unvoiced mostly, but unmistakably there and not only on the Fourth of July.

A great part of America now understands that this president’s sense of identification lies elsewhere, and is in profound ways unlike theirs. He is hard put to sound convincingly like the leader of the nation, because he is, at heart and by instinct, the voice mainly of his ideological class. He is the alien in the White House, a matter having nothing to do with [ ] his birthplace…

One of his first reforms was to rid the White House of the bust of Winston Churchill [finding] no place in our national house of many rooms for the British leader who lives on so vividly in the American mind.

Far greater strangeness has since flowed steadily from Washington. Consider the hapless Eric Holder, America’s attorney general, confronting the question put to him by Rep. Lamar Smith (R., Texas) of the House Judiciary Committee on May 13.

Did Mr. Holder think that in the last three terrorist attempts on this soil, one of them successful (Maj. Nidal Hasan’s murder of 13 soldiers at Fort Hood, [ ] that radical Islam might have played any role at all? Mr. Holder seemed puzzled by the question. “People have different reasons” he finally answered—a response he repeated three times.

[ ] Michael Posner, assistant secretary of state for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, [] compared the treatment of Muslim-Americans in the United States after 9/11 with the plight of the Japanese-Americans interned in camps after Pearl Harbor, during a human-rights conference held in China this May. [The comparison is absurd. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, ordered every Japanese resident, man woman and child, to be taken from their homes and placed in fenced-in internment camps for the duration of the war. Following the 911 attack on the World Trade Center, President Bush didn’t intern anyone and took great pains to defray citizens from retaliation against Muslims.]

It is no surprise that Mr. Posner—like numerous of his kind—has found a natural home in this administration. His is a sensibility and political disposition with which Mr. Obama is at home. The beliefs and attitudes that this president has internalized are to be found everywhere…but never before in a president of the United States. Mr. Obama may not hold all, or the more extreme, of these views. But there can be no doubt by now of the influences that have shaped him. They account for his grand apology tour through the capitals of Europe and to the Muslim world, during which he decried America’s moral failures—her arrogance, insensitivity. They were the words of a man to whom reasons for American guilt came naturally.
