THE OBAMA TAX CUTS

Obama tax cuts? …Yessir, Obama tax cuts. …Really? …Yup. He says cutting tax rates could raise tax revenues and help reduce the national debt. …You’re kidding, aren’t you? No Democrat ever said that. …Obama did. It’s in the New York Times. It has to be true.

WASHINGTON — President Obama is considering whether to push early next year for an overhaul of the income tax code to lower rates and raise revenues in what would be his first major effort to begin addressing the long-term growth of the national debt.

One has to wonder what this heresy is all about. Triangulation is one thing, total about face is quite another. It’s in the Democratic Bible  “Thou shall raise taxes lest the abomination of debt fall upon thee.” Perhaps the President’s fingers were crossed when he said it.

Of course, at this point it is not even a proposal, it’s just a proposal of a proposal. A flag, as they say, run up the pole to see if anyone salutes. But it’s a historical moment nonetheless.

WOW! WHAT A WACKY WICKI DAY!

Revenge of Wikileak Fans

Master Card and VISA disabled, PAY PAL and Amazon under attack. Palin and the Swedish government’s websites disabled. All of this was accomplished today by a cyber army of hackers in support of Assange and his Wikileaks.

In Berkeley California, the City Council prepared a resolution for a Tuesday vote to honor the soldier who is believed to have supplied Assange with access to the data being released. Only in Berkeley!

In Moscow the Kremlin urges the nomination of Julian Assange for the Nobel Peace Prize. It seems it is not only in Berkeley after all.

Automatic “doomsday release” is impossible to stop, claims its founder. The information will flow faster than the encryption code could possibly be broken.

Lines are in the process of being drawn. The hard Left is coming out in support of Assange. The Wikileak releases are enormously embarrassing to the United States. But the supporters are not focusing their attacks on the Right, other than Sarah Palin. Sweden and Amazon cannot be called Right Wing targets. Sen. Lieberman has come out with a strong condemnation few other Democrats (we know, Lieberman is technically not a Democrat) have expressed strong opinions.

And where is Obama? Much of the Press is saying he seems not to be taking the issue very seriously. But then, he has never been very concerned about embarrassing America, has he?

BARACK BOMBS AGAIN, THIS TIME HE LOSES ONE TO DEMOCRATS

Bush vindicated on Gitmo policy

The current Democratic Congress has refused to provide funding for the transfer of detainees and closing of the prison. Just as we said in Obama’s Press Conference II, Democratic politicians are not as dumb as they sound. With one out of four released detainees returning to terrorism, the risk of an event that would bounce back on Democrats was just too great.

No funding means no closing. It also means none of the detainees will be brought into the States.

MARSHALL ISLANDS, A SINKING PARADISE?

ABC reports from Cancun:

Encroaching seas in the far Pacific are raising the salt level in the wells of the Marshall Islands. Waves threaten to cut one sliver of an island in two. “It’s getting worse,” says Kaminaga Kaminaga, the tiny nation’s climate change coordinator.

The rising ocean raises questions, too: What happens if the 61,000 Marshallese must abandon their low-lying atolls? Would they still be a nation? With a U.N. seat? With control of their old fisheries and their undersea minerals? Where would they live, and how would they make a living? Who, precisely, would they and their children become?                    (Emphasis ours)

However, the oceans around the Marshalls haven’t risen since the 1930’s and salt in the wells is due to excessive depletion by the pineapple growers, not from “encroaching seas.” According to world renowned sea level scientist Dr. Nils-Axel Mörner, the claim that this sea level is rising is a total fraud and he presents the science to back up his assertion.

Further down the ABC report we find this:

This week in Cancun and in the months to come, the Marshalls’ representatives will seek international aid for climate adaptation. They envision such projects as a Jaluit causeway, replanting of protective vegetation on shorelines, and a 3-mile-long (5-kilometer-long) seawall protecting their capital, Majuro, from the Pacific’s rising tides.

It’s always about the money, isn’t it? In fact it’s only about the money, isn’t it?

OBAMA’S PRESS CONFERENCE II

Democratic politicians are not as stupid as they sound. Well, most of them aren’t. The Democrats know that raising taxes in the midst of a recession is economic suicide. And as close as we are to 2012 it would be political suicide as well. The dilemma they faced all year long was how to extend the Bush tax rates and blame it on Republicans with Democrats in control of the House, the Senate and the Presidency.

Obama tried. Obama failed. He said [Failing to make the deal] “in terms of macroeconomics, the overall health of the economy, that would have been a damaging thing.” The essence of his televised message was that he did the right thing for the American people and he did it because he was forced into it by the Republicans. His monologue was full of condemnation, long on banality and short on substance. He spoke repeatedly of fights, battles and debates, the familiar language of a community organizer.

But he didn’t blame George Bush. Perhaps he saw this poll.

OBAMA’S PRESS CONFERENCE

CNBC Poll: – Extend Bush Tax Cuts, Say Americans Worried About Economy

Obama: – “I convinced the American people. I had no problem with that. It was just the Republicans I couldn’t convince.”

Someone should tell the President four things he appears not to know:
1 He did not convince the American people.
2 Republicans are Americans too, the same as Democrats.
3 Democrats control the Senate, not republicans.

The President also said he had no choice but to accept the deal because he didn’t have 60 votes in the Senate. Yo, Barack! You only needed 51.

And can you explain some things for us, please? You spoke of “tens of millions” who needed that unemployment extension. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported 15.1 million total unemployed in November. How did you get “tens of millions” eligible for extensions out of 15 million total unemployed?

You also said this deal would help the millions of hard working American families with low paying jobs that are struggling to meet the bills. We thought the unemployment benefit extension was for people who were out of work.

But you really scared me when you said American people were being held hostage by some Republicans. I called 911 and the people there didn’t know anything about it. I hope you were kidding because I was planning to go home for Christmas.

CAPITALISM CAUSES RAIN

Venezuela has been hit by heavy rains. Deaths are reported at 32 with 70,000 left homeless. Socialist President Hugo Chavez holds “criminal capitalists” responsible for the disaster. God, Satan and mother nature get off scot-free. Preposterous, isn’t it! Nobody could believe it, could they? Nobody believes in flying saucers either, do they! Or… do they?

Here in the United States the citizenry are better informed. Blaming thunderstorms on “totalitarian socialists” wouldn’t fly. A few of us up here in North America may say it was God or Satan acting up, but most will simply say it was “just mother nature.” Now, we all know mother nature is organic and organic is “in”. It would be doubly incorrect to hold
such a lady responsible for the misery caused. So let’s blame the President. After all, someone has to be to blame. Accidents don’t just happen.

A CASE OF PSYCHOLOGICAL PROJECTION

The following article was published jointly by three political strategists. Do you agree with their analysis?

[There is] a very real and authentic sense of alarm that there is something both genuinely unprecedented and also profoundly dangerous in the intense “take no prisoners” political extremism of the current Party. There is a deep apprehension that fundamental American standards of proper political conduct and ethical political behavior are increasingly being violated.

The key feature that distinguishes the increasingly extremist perspective of today’s Party from the standards of political behavior we have traditionally considered proper in America is the view that politics is — quite literally, and not metaphorically – a kind of warfare and political opponents are literally “enemies.”

This “politics as warfare” perspective has historically been the hallmark of many extremist political parties of both the ideological left and ideological right – parties ranging from the American Communist Party to the French National Front.

Historically, these political parties display a series of common features – features that follow logically and inescapably from the basic premise of politics as warfare:

I. Strategy:

• In the politics as warfare perspective the political party’s objective is defined as the conquest and seizure of power and not sincere participation in democratic governance. The party is viewed as a combat organization whose goal is to defeat an enemy, not an organization whose job is to faithfully represent the people who voted for it.

• In the politics as warfare perspective extralegal measures, up to and including violence, are tacitly endorsed as a legitimate means to achieve a party’s political aims if democratic means are insufficient to obtain its objectives. To obscure the profoundly undemocratic nature of this view, the “enemy” government–even when it is freely elected — is described as actually being illegitimate and dictatorial, thus justifying the use of violence as a necessary response to “tyranny”.

• In the politics as warfare perspective all major social problems are caused by the deliberate, malevolent acts of powerful elites with nefarious motives. An evil “them” is the cause of all society’s ills.

• In the politics as warfare perspective the political party’s philosophy and basic strategy is inerrant – it cannot be wrong. The result is the creation of a closed system of ideologically controlled “news” that creates an alternative reality.

II. Tactics:

• In the politics as warfare perspective standard norms of honesty are irrelevant. Lying and the use of false propaganda are considered necessary and acceptable. The “truth” is what serves to advance the party’s objectives.

• In the politics as warfare perspective the political party accepts no responsibility for stability – engineering the fall of the existing government is absolutely paramount and any negative consequences that may occur in the process represent a kind of “collateral damage” that is inevitable in warfare

• In the politics as warfare perspective the creation of contrived “incidents” or deliberate provocations are acceptable. Because the adherent of this view “knows” that his or her opponents are fundamentally evil, even concocted or staged incidents are still morally and ethically “true.” The distinction between facts and distortions disappears.

• In the politics as warfare perspective compromise represents both betrayal and capitulation. Destruction of the enemy is the only acceptable objective. People who advocate compromise are themselves enemies.

The perception
We shortened the first sentence and removed the word “Republican” wherever it appeared in the original. No other changes were made to the body of this article which is a description of the Republican Party as it is seen by its authors writing for TheDemocraticStrategist.org.

The assertions and inferences made are:
“…fundamental American standards of proper political conduct and ethical political behavior are increasingly being violated” – by the Republican Party.

Republicans feel – “political opponents are literally enemies.”

Republican tactics are reminiscent of tactics of “the American Communist Party.”

The Republican Party is an organization whose “goal is to defeat an enemy, not an organization whose job is to faithfully represent the people who voted for it.”

In the Republican Party,” extralegal measures, up to and including violence, are tacitly endorsed as a legitimate means to achieve a party’s political aims if democratic means are insufficient to obtain its objectives.” And “Lying and the use of false propaganda are considered necessary and acceptable. The “truth” is what serves to advance the party’s objectives.”

Republicans believe, ”contrived “incidents” or deliberate provocations are acceptable. Because the adherent of this view “knows” that his or her opponents are fundamentally evil.”
[See our post Spits and Spins – Slurs and Lies].

Republicans believe, “Destruction of the enemy is the only acceptable objective. People who advocate compromise are themselves enemies.”
[But it is Vice Presidential candidate and Senator Joseph Lieberman, a Democrat, who immediately comes to mind as one who was made to pay a price for compromising].

What we have here, is a classic case of what psychologist call “projection.”
Pathological projection

1. The attribution of one’s own attitudes, feelings, or suppositions to others: “Even trained anthropologists have been guilty of unconscious projection-of clothing the subjects of their research in theories brought with them into the field” (Alex Shoumatoff).

2. The attribution of one’s own attitudes, feelings, or desires to someone or something as a naive or unconscious defense against anxiety or guilt.

Wikipedia explains it thusly:

From a psychoanalytic viewpoint, projection is an intrapsychic process that creates or shapes a perception (or a collection of perceptions) with reference to an object in the outside world, which, although the subject believes he or she is perceiving it “objectively,” is actually being perceived according to the subject’s own characteristics.

Listening to your opponents perception of how you think and plan can tell you a lot about how your opponent thinks and plans.

HELEN THOMAS COMES OUT, AGAIN

HELEN THOMAS, STILL INVINCIBLE AT 90

Helen Thomas, May 27, 2010
Jews should get the hell out of Palestine” and “go home to Germany and Poland.”

Helen Thomas, June 3, 2010
“I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians. They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon.”
But this apology failed to save her job, so…

Helen Thomas, December 2, 2010
When a reporter from the Detroit News asked about her statements of May 27th,
“I stand by it. I told the truth,”

Helen Thomas is through and through a Democrat. Why in the world is it that American Jews solidly vote Democrat?
