TEA PARTY WEAKNESS ON PRIMARY DAY ?

RICK SNYDER

Snyder wins in Michigan, Moran in Kansas. Neither was the Tea Party favorite so much is being made of it as a sign of Tea Party weakness, especially by the Left. The Left is grabbing at straws. All it shows is that the Tea people do not dominate the Republican Party. And that bodes well for the general election.

The role of the Tea Party is to influence the Republican Party, not to introduce sudden radical change. Teddy Roosevelt’s Bull Moose Party quickly bit the dust. Ralph Nader only succeeded in aiding Republican candidates by splitting the Democratic vote. The Tea people are doing just fine right now, bringing the Republican Party back to Conservatism one steady step at a time.

JERRY MORAN

Snyder is running for Governor of Michigan, home of Detroit and the highest unemployment rate in the country. As an experienced businessman, Snyder was a good choice. Moran is vying for the Kansas Senate seat and his election will be more significant on a national level.

UPDATE: A good example of why the Tea Party should not dominate. Sarah Palin endorsed Brian Murphy over Gov Robert Ehrlich as Republican candidate for the Maryland Senate seat. Here is a comment from Paul Mirengoff at Power Line blog.

The problem is that, in my view (and I’ve lived in Maryland most of my life), Murphy has essentially zero chance of defeating our incumbent liberal governor, Martin O’Malley. By contrast, former Gov. Robert Ehrlich, the overwhelming favorite to secure the Republican nomination, is running even with O’Malley in the polls. Thus, for those of us who wish to avoid a continuation of liberal state governance, Ehrlich is the obvious choice

Nancy Pelosi fears investigations. I can understand that. The Hill reports that in a fund raising letter,

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is asking supporters for contributions to help prevent the “subpoenas and investigations” that would result from a GOP majority.

After her promise to “drain the swamp” she has reason to fear oversight will show the swamp has turned into a cesspool under her leadership. The Tea Party is Patriotic, not Nationalistic. According to George Orwell, Nationalism is the habit of identifying oneself with a single nation or other unit, placing it beyond good and evil and recognizing no other duty than to advance its interests. Patriotism is devotion to a particular way of life which one believes is the best in the world but with no wish to force it upon other people. Patriotism is by its nature defensive, both militarily and culturally. Nationalism, on the other hand, is inseparable from the desire for power. Soros and Obama have joined in urging Germany to increase their spending as a means to stimulate economic recovery and support EU nations with greater levels of debt. What they are calling for is what Random Thots calls International Socialism. It would tap the wealth of one nation that has acted responsibly in order to benefit other nations whose irresponsible spending led to the problem in the first place. Soros and Obama are urging a policy that would increase the debt of the EU’s strongest member and support the continuation of the policies that are leading other nations to bankruptcy.

THE SPIRIT OF AMERICA IS ALIVE AND WELL

A bumper sticker seen on a pickup truck in Charleston, S.C. said:

Annoy a Liberal, Work Hard Be Happy.

That sticker said a lot in a few words. Folks of the conservative persuasion are not given to participating in the nuisance of public demonstration. Self reliance nourishes the soul, life is good and too short to spend it pacing around with signs proclaiming the grievances du jour…normally.

But there is a line. If you will permit me to say it, it is liberally placed. You may step on our toes, you may kick us in the shins with little response. But, my liberal friends, when you bludgeon our groin and aim at the heart of where we live we will rise up.

You may not recognize our furor for it is of a different nature from yours. The Nazi signs you expect are yours, not ours. The spits and slurs you expected are your way, not ours. Whatever hatred we harbor is toward what you believe. Whatever hatred you harbor is toward who we are.

We are the defenders of individual freedom. We are the proponents of equal opportunity for all. We are proud of our country. We are the spirit of America.

Here are samples of how we speak our truth to power.

The day Conservatives stood up.

The Associated Press estimated total attendance to be 2 million.

Farrakhan’s “Million Man March” attracted 400,000 people according to the National Park Service estimate..

Protesters came from every state in the union. This man came from San Antonio, TX . He said that he was really sorry he hadn?t brought his family. He stated that being a black conservative he was afraid to expose his children to what he expected would be a lot of liberal abuse. He was thrilled with the tenor of the event and the fact that no liberals were present to harass him. He spoke about how incredibly intolerant the left is to black individuals who don’t bow to the party line.

Can you hear us now?

You surely will hear from us in November.

Catchy, but premature to be sure.

The fearsome mob.

Protesting in style with humor and a smile.

Check out our website.

The other mob, the one that does not wear SEIU shirts.

Joe the plumber's favorite photo.

This is about as nasty as it got.

NOAM CHOMSKY QUOTED IN PRAVDA

Compares Tea Party to Weimar Germany

I thought Chomsky was dead, must have been confusing him with Howard Zinn. Noam is alive, but still not well. For if he were of sane mind he would not be expressing fear that a Hitleresque leader might emerge to lead the Tea Party and bring upon illegal immigrants and blacks what Hitler brought upon the Jews.

The article is here. It ends with Chomsky’s warning, “I do not believe that this is far from happening”. Chomsky has never sworn allegiance to the truth but in this case I believe he is sincere. Once you close your mind to objective truth you forfeit all connection to reality. Chomsky has allowed himself no knowledge of the motivation or goals of the Tea Party. He does not fear what they stand for because he does not know what they stand for. He fears the unknown, and trembles.

KRAUTHAMMER NAILED IT

Charles Krauthammer once said something to the effect that to understand American politics you must realize that Democrats think Republicans are evil and Republicans think Democrats are stupid. A profound observation to be sure.

Conservatives complain that Liberals are less tolerant. Why wouldn’t they be if they are combating evil while Republicans are only confronted with stupidity? The relative intolerance by liberals is less a matter of hypocrisy than simply the natural result of their core belief. Liberals are true to their label in matters of crime, sex and indolence. These are forgivable human weaknesses. However, the conservative ideology is destructive to society as a whole.

Evil is something that must be set right. Stupidity can be ignored. Hence liberals have always been active demonstrators against the evil they perceive, whereas conservatives were ill motivated to disrupt their lives in order to demonstrate against ignorance. It is a change of perceptions that has brought about the Tea Party. Conservatives envision evil in the direction in which the country is currently being led, and evil must be set right.

LEST WE FORGET

The Tiller killer, Scott Roeder, has been in the news again. The militia in a house trailer is called Christian. Throw in Timothy McVey and you have the image the Left is wont to attach to the Tea Party movement, radical, militant, revolutionary, dangerous. As austere a publication as the New York Times has promoted this image.

We posted a video of a typical Tea Party protest at Of  Spits and Slurs, Spins and Lies. There is nothing in that video that remotely fits the image, yet what you saw in that video is condemned by the press and by our current government as radical and dangerous. The action in the below video is not condemned. It is ignored.

It is with these voices and with these signs that they stake their claim to the moral high ground.

OF SPITS and SLURS, SPINS and LIES – UPDATE

It gets worse. There was speculation from the beginning that this was deliberate action on the part of Black Democrats to discredit the Tea Party as racist. I did not accept that premise because I saw no evidence to support it. But now there is ample evidence.

As Mark Steyn reports, the normal passage between the Congressional office building and the Capital is via a direct tunnel. It is the passage routinely followed by members both for convenience and to avoid incidents with protesters. The Black Caucus leaders march through the Tea Party crowd was deliberate. Surely someone would step over the line, the Black leaders would have their racial incident, and the press would feature it on the evening news advocacy report.

Members of the press were aware of the march and present in their usual numbers. So were many individuals with camera phones. Rep. Andre Carson claimed to have heard the word “nigger” fifteen times. Andrew Breitbart decided to put Carson and the others to the test and offered $10,000 to anyone who could provide evidence of the alleged slurs. He subsequently raised it to $100,000. No evidence has emerged. There were no slurs. There were no spits. There were just lies.

It would be easy to say the provocation failed because it has been exposed. Unfortunately, the truth came a little late. A lie goes around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on. It did not help that Fox News originally reported the allegations as presumed fact. For some the early report by Fox was enough to shut their eyes and ears to further input. Case closed.

Playing the race card in a criminal trial to win an acquittal is despicable enough, but it is nothing compared to nationwide incitement of racial animosity as a planned tactic by one party to solidify its power. Welcome to community organizing, Alinsky style.

It is deeply saddening to see prominent members of the Black community undermining the very work for which Martin Luther King gave his life. For surely if this continues historians will some day look back and measure King’s success as enduring from the time of his death until the election of Barack H. Obama.

Please read the links, particularly Breitbart which includes several videos.

OF SPITS AND SLURS, SPINS AND LIES,

A cadre of Black Congressmen walks through a gathering of mostly white folks milling about in peaceful protest. The crowd is orderly and of its’ own accord, clears a broad path for the advancing men. But one overzealous individual in the crowd is given to shouting with hands cupped to send his angry message directly at the politicians passing by. He is ignored by them, as they climb the steps they keep a discreet distance from the shouting protester, except for one, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (D) MO.
Cleaver stops, steps close to the shouter and confronts him face to face. Now I must say, if a Congressman is stupid enough to go out of his way to put his face in front of an angry man screaming his lungs out at him, he has no business complaining about the natural result. He may have stepped in front of a shower but he was not spat upon. A tourist, looking somewhat lost, was heard to say – “A mad protester and a stupid politician. This must be Washington.”
Cleaver then follows the others, who never broke stride. A single member of the Capital police force, a young woman, trails casually along at the rear.

You have no doubt seen the reports – Tea Bagger spits on civil rights hero John Lewis. Protesters scream ‘nigger’ and ‘faggot’. Police escort Congressmen safely into building. Spitter arrested by Capital Police. Now you have seen the video. Continue reading
