MORE ON THE CATHOLIC FLAP

Professor Paul Rahe minces no words in writing More Than a Touch of Malice, an article you can read at Ricochet.  He adds his wisdom to the argument that, far from committing a gaffe, Obama’s riling of the Catholic Church was a deliberate and well thought out step taken to define and solidify his base.

In 2008, when he first ran for the Presidency, Barack Obama posed as a moderate most of the time.  This time, he is openly running as a radical. His aim is to win a mandate for the fundamental transformation of the United States that he promised in passing on the eve of his election four years ago and that he promised again when he called his administration The New Foundation.

In the process, he intends to reshape the Democratic coalition – to bring the old hypocrisy to an end, to eliminate those who stand in the way of the final consolidation of the administrative entitlements state, to drive out the faithful Catholics once and for all, to jettison the white working class, and to build a new American regime on a coalition of  highly educated upper-middle class whites, feminists, African-Americans, Hispanics, illegal immigrants, and those belonging to the public-sector unions. To Americans outside this coalition, he intends to show no mercy.

Saul Alinsky, author of Rules for Radicals, taught that transforming a nation with a prosperous middle class like the United States into a Marxist socialist society could only be accomplished if approached as a three act play:

Act I – join the crowd, gain respect, acceptance and legitimacy.

Act II – develop the theme, spread discontent, and build a following for Act III

Act III – the act of final transformation which Alinsky says will of necessity, be violent.

Act I is complete.  The Occupy movement opened Act II; there is ample discontent.  It only needs to be channeled, fanned and kept alive.  “Those damned Regressives, now they want to take away your sex life”.  That will do it.  That’s the Catholic flap.

Act III…, there will be no Act III; we will see to that in November.  But if there were, the curtain would open in January with an Inauguration Proclamation declaring, “I, Barack Hussein Obama, am the way, the truth and the light; there is no way out of this mess but by me”.  And America would be on the road to becoming a Marxist Socialist society.

TWO VISIONS of AMERICA – A STUDY IN CONTRAST

President Reagan believed in the greatness of America as a nation and the can-do spirit of the American people.  Obama believes America is a nation with an eroded foundation whose people have become lazy and unable to manage for themselves.

President Reagan restored the economy that had begun to slip under his predecessor Jimmy Carter, and he gave the credit for the recovery to the resilience of the American people.  Obama has not restored the economy he inherited and offers only accusations and excuses for his own failure to do so.

One man was an inspirational leader from the start, as head of the Screen Actors Guild, to Governor of California and then as President.  The other man was an agitator from the start, as a community organizer and then an ACORN lawyer and is still is an agitator as President.

But both men have their own brand of greatness.  One is known as The Great Communicator, the other The Great Divider.

Happy Birthday, Ron

HERE IS WHY THE REPUBLICAN PARTY DOES NOT WANT NEWT TO WIN THE NOMINATION

Much has been said about how well Newt Gingrich would do in televised debates with Barack Obama.  However, most of the accolades come from observers in the conservative camp.  Moderates and independents who do not share Gingrich’s views are not as impressed by his quick and witty sound bite retorts.  The candidate also has more baggage than either Romney or Paul, and I guess we still need to include Santorum.

But the real reason the Republican Party is not behind Gingrich for the nomination is none of the above.  The prime reason is the general public doesn’t favor Gingrich over Obama and the Republican Party wants to win.

These polls gathered by The Washington Examiner tell the story.  The comparisons between Gingrich and Romney are stark.

Fox News, 1/12-1/14:
Obama, fav/unfav, 51%/46%, +5
Romney, fav/unfav, 45%/38%, +7
Gingrich, fav/unfav, 27%/56%, -29

CBS/NYT, 1/12-1/17:
Obama, fav/unfav, 38%/45%, -7
Romney, fav/unfav, 21%/35%, -14
Gingrich, fav/unfav, 17%/49%, -32

PPP, 1/13-1/17:
Obama, app/dis, 47%/50%, -3
Romney, fav/unfav, 35%/53%, -18
Gingrich, fav/unfav, 26%/60%, -34

COMPARING MARTIN LUTHER KING TO BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA

King was born in the deep South in the middle of poverty, attended segregated public schools and graduated from Morehouse College, a Negro institution.  He saw a nation sorely divided and devoted his life to uniting it.  Obama was born into relative affluence in Hawaii, attended private schools and graduated from Harvard.  He saw the nation King fought to unite and proceeded to polarize it.  King fought for equal opportunity for everyone, a decidedly conservative notion.  Obama strives to equalize wealth, a decidedly socialist notion.  King had a dream.  King’s dream was of a color blind America where all men would be judged by their character and not by the color of their skin.  Obama also has a dream.  His dream is from his father whose vision was of a utopian world without a superpower he deemed to be oppressive.

Where King sought healing, Obama seeks reparations.  King sought to transform America he saw by ridding the nation of segregation and racism.  Obama has vowed to transform America but has never revealed exactly how he Hopes to Change it.

Martin Luther King is rightly honored by a holiday.  If Barack Hussein Obama gets a postage stamp it will be enough.

The ONLY THING OUR ECONOMY NEEDS IS A NEW PRESIDENT

Roosevelt Redux: How Obama is Creating a Great Depression of His Own

By Robert R. Barker

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) is to liberals as Ronald Reagan is to conservatives, a greatly revered hero of their cause.  Barack Obama is following in FDR’s shoes.  Roosevelt was more destructive to the economy in his own time than Obama has been in his… thus far.

Roosevelt responded to the recession he inherited with a combination of massive spending on new government programs and sweeping controls over private industry, (sound familiar?).  His thinking was that government spending would get people back to work, and controls over private industry would end deflation.  Rules and regulations over private industry were put in place designed, incredibly, to increase the prices of goods.  The President and his advisors thought deflation was a cause of the recession.  But of course it wasn’t a cause; it was a result.

The Works Progress Administration (WPA) and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) were formed.  The WPA was created to carry out infrastructure projects (sound familiar?) and the CCC to provide government jobs for young men by performing work of a conservation nature on government-owned land.  The WPA and CCC were prime elements of FDR’s stimulus program.  Both programs increased the size of government and added to the Federal payroll but did little for private industry which is the heart of an economy.

The Reconstruction Finance Corporation (RFC) was a government sponsored organization (GSO) structured somewhat like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  The RFC was expanded by Roosevelt and served as the money conduit for bailing out failing banks.  It was funded with over 5 billion dollars in taxpayer money, equivalent to 84 billion today after adjusting for inflation.  According to Wikipedia, “The RFC was bogged down in bureaucracy and failed to disperse much of its funds.  It failed to reverse the problem of mass unemployment.”  (Sound familiar?)

FDR created a Farm Board with the power to control the amount of production and the price of grains and livestock.  The board mandated that crop farmers let some of their fields lie fallow.  Agriculture farmers were paid by the government for crops that didn’t exist because they were forbidden to plant them.  Livestock farmers were not overlooked either.  Six million young piglets were ordered destroyed at taxpayer expense.  The purpose was to reduce the supply of pigs and increase the price of bacon and pork.  Instead of pigs, Obama chose to destroy used cars.  At least that move is more humane.

Roosevelt’s first legislative victory was congressional passage of the National Industrial Recovery Act to be administered by the National Recovery Administration (NRA).  This new law created a new agency giving Washington vast powers of control over private enterprise.  It established maximum and minimum wages and price controls over many goods and services.  It was the most contentious of all the programs in Roosevelt’s “New Deal.”  Had it not been for the economic crisis then at hand, such sweeping legislation could never have been enacted.  (Sound familiar?)

But the NRA turned out to be a step too far.  In an attempt to end the controversy surrounding the program, Roosevelt chose to make an example of a kosher chicken processing firm run by two immigrant brothers in Brooklyn, NY.  The proprietors were arrested, tried, found guilty and jailed for selling chickens at prices below those allowed by the law and for permitting wholesale customers to pick and choose which birds they wanted to buy.  Both acts violated regulations set by the National Recovery Administration.

The strategy backfired when the proprietors, the Schechter brothers, fought back.  The case went to the Supreme Court where, by a unanimous decision, the National Industrial Recovery Act was declared to be unconstitutional.  The NRA which administered the Act was dismantled.  Today we see parallels in Obama’s use of czars and broad powers of regulation to control the private sector.  If the question of the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as  ObamaCare, winds up in the Supreme Court it will be one more instance of Roosevelt redux.

Eight years after Roosevelt was first elected, unemployment stood at 14.6%.  Henry Morgenthau, Jr., FDR’s Secretary of the Treasury from 1934-1945, admitted to himself in a written in his personal diary that the stimulus spending programs had failed.

“We have tried spending money.  We are spending more money than we have ever spent before and it does not work…  We have never made good on our promises. . . . I say after eight years of this administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started . . . . And an enormous debt to boot!”

Then on December 7th 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor.  The unemployed went back to work.  Assembly lines ran around the clock making tanks and planes, guns and ships in the all-out war effort.  FDR, already the only President to win a third term, went on to win a fourth.

Obama is treading the same path as FDR, repeating the same steps that turned a recession into the Great Depression.  But fear not; we survived the Civil War, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt and World War II.  We’ll survive Barack Obama as well.  But we must make certain he only reigns for one term.

RANDOM THOTS ABOUT OBAMA, HOLDER AND PELOSI

A man of the people or a member of the 1% ?
Barack Obama took 11 days in August to vacation on the exclusive island of Martha’s Vineyard.  Now the President has planned another 17 day vacation in Hawaii.  Rounding it out, that’s about one month of vacation out of the last 6 months in office.  Mrs. Crosby once said of her husband, “Bing  was a golfer who sometimes sang for a living”.  Dare we say, our President is a tourist who sometimes gives campaign speeches for a living?

Speaking of speeches
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder recently went to the LBJ library to give a speech denouncing Texas law that requires voters to present a photo ID before entering a voting booth.  Holder argued that requiring an ID for voting was somehow discriminatory.

Those who came to hear him speak were required to show photo ID cards to enter the library and hear Holder speak.

Pelosi-speak
Apparently sober, but stumbling a bit nonetheless, Nancy Pelosi, formerly third in line for the Presidency explained how helping people stay on unemployment creates jobs.  “…extending the incr…cut and extending unemployment insurance is not only good for individuals, um it also has a macroeconomic impact, uh macroeconomic advisers have advised it will make a difference of 600,000 jobs”, she said.  One would have thought it would be microeconomic advisers who would come up with a number like that.  Perhaps it was just an estimate.  Video.

The former Speaker of the House did not explain why there was a need to say what was in this particular bill before passing it into law.

DAMN THE TRUTH – DENY, DENY, AND THEN DENY IT AGAIN

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a government agency, the unemployment rate for 2008 was 5.6 percent and rising.  Obama said he would keep the oceans of the unemployed from rising, and the economy would start to heal, or something like that.  As anyone in partisan politics knows, unemployment continued its rise to 10.2  percent and only recently retreated below 9 to 8.6 percent.  Unemployment has grown by roughly 50 percent during the nearly three years of Obama’s term in office, two with Democratic control of the House and Senate.  This is the biggest obstacle facing the Democrats for the 2012 election.  They know it; they know it very well.

What do you call the willful suspension of personal integrity, honesty and common civility?  Debbie Wasserman Schultz.  All you need to know to judge who holds the moral high ground is to compare this woman the Democrats have chosen to head the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to anyone the Republicans have ever chosen to head the RNC.  Yes, the Republicans have had their scoundrels too, but none of them raised the needle on the obnoxious meter to the level of DWS, not even Howard Dean.

Watch the video.  Judge for yourself.

OCCUPY OAKLAND – THE MOST TELLING

This is a powerful video.  If you still have questions in your mind on what the Occupy movement is about, this is the video will remove all doubt.

The existence of sizable groups of people embracing the beliefs expressed in the video is not a new phenomenon.  As Stanley Kurtz explains in his book  RADICAL-IN-CHIEF, Barack Obama and the Untold Story of American Socialism, this is the world Obama chose in his youth.  The question is did he ever leave it?  His actions as President are consistent with the notion he did not.

OCCUPY – NOW THE UGLY SIDE

As the world turns the Occupy groups evolve.  They are one thing today and another tomorrow.  They are one thing here and another thing over there.  Two days ago we reported on the movement’s better side.  Today we report on its ugly face.

Occupiers in New York desecrate the American flag by laying it on the ground and walking on it for the camera.

Occupiers in Portland, Oregon compose a song entitled “F*** AMERICA” and sing those lyrics on the street.

The movement has been given the official endorsement of The Communist Party USA

A crowd in Atlanta makes it clear they want to hear Democratic Congressman and civil rights hero John Lewis speak.  But a declared Marxist facilitator manipulates the crowd into denying Lewis the opportunity to speak.

An Occupy LA speaker says the time has finally come; it’s time for the militant revolution.

Barack Obama has voiced unqualified support to the Occupiers, without reservations or condemnation of any of their actions.  The movement is the direct result of class warfare launched and perpetuated by him with support from the press and the Democratic party.

We are witnessing a classic organizing technique in the Alinsky model being played out on a national scale and led by the world’s most renowned community organizer.  Alinsky called his rules tactics.  Tactic number 13 is “Pick a target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it”.  Obama picked the banks, is freezing his target with endless repetition, polarizing it with attacks on millionaires and billionaires and personalizing it by relating it to the lack of jobs.

If you are dismayed by all this; you can’t say you weren’t warned.  As a candidate, the President said he would never turn his back on the “God damn America” preacher who gave him the inspiration for his life’s work.  And then he proudly proclaimed his community organizing experience as a prime qualification for his election to the presidency.  Sometimes you actually do get what you asked for.

Communist Party USA also supports the Obama-endorsed Occupy Wall Street Protests.

From the CPUSA website:

TWEETER’S TWIT INDEX

Crimson Hexagon is to the internet as Nielson is to television programming.  They both are leading firms that take measure of what is popular in their respective spheres.  Crimson measures sentiments as posted in public social networking sites like Twitter.  Their work is directed mostly for commercial purposes, but they also explore political issues.  The outfit monitored tweets on the subject of the Presidents big black bus tour through Tea Party land and found 72% of tweeters were critical of the tour with only 6% tweeting favorably about it.  It places Obama in the running for the Twit of the Year award.

Say what you will about Bill Clinton, but at least he had an easy charm and a sense of propriety.  He also was a man who was capable of being gracious.  Obama is none of that.  Can you picture President Clinton, 2 ½ years into his presidency, ordering a million dollar bus from Canada, having it painted intimidation black, and riding for three days through the midlands making stump speeches blaming mid-east unrest and a Japanese earthquake for the lack of jobs at home?
